Any recommendations for a rolling bag for photo equipment that meets airlines 22x14x9 dimensions? I have been looking at Think Tank and Lowepro. It did not look like Pelican had such a size? Any others?

Check out the Manuk 935. Should be the right size, is plastic. waterproof and all the other stuff. I like mine very much.

All I know is that my think tank v50 urban disguise is going on 5 years of daily use (and I tend to stuff it to the gills) and it's still in great shape. Normally after a year to two years my daily work bag is falling apart. When and if this thing finally gives out...I'm buying another think tank.

I use a regular roller bag and put one camera bag and one camera backpack in it. The camera bag has flash gear, the camera backpack has camera gear. Sometimes you have to check your carryon because there's no room, but I can usually find room for at least the backpack. If you take a photo roller bag, you have no choice but check it if the overhead is full.

The new Pelican air cases. The 1535 is a carry on with padded dividers. Looks very very nice.

I use the think tank roller for travel when I am on regular planes and get a gurugear 26 backpack that will fit in the overheads on regional jets

Plenty of great products on the markets and they probably share 90% of the features. Hard not to buy something you will love and probably impossible to find the truly perfect one. None seems to have it all but all do the job very well. Just be prepared to buy a new in a few years. Before yours wears out, the manufacturers will introduce new, must-have features.

Another vote for ThinkTank. I use and like their Airport Security V2 and smaller Airport Airstream. Although I've never had problems with taking my Airport Security aboard domestic flights, the depth will be greater than 9" if you pack gear in the cover. When fully loaded, the Airport Security is very heavy. Be careful when putting /removing from the overhead bin.

I am a retired flight attendant for a major airline. When I started working in Asia my first thought was how to constantly fly with all my camera gear and knowing all the problems with carry on luggage. The Think Tank Airstream was the perfect answer. It fits easily 2 camera bodies and all my necessary lens. It fits into the overhead bins and under a seat. I have never had any problems with any airline domestically or international. I would recommend that you purchase the shorter dividers, it will give you more room on the top. That bag has logged many, many miles all over the world. The only time I would change is to buy a new one when my current one wears out.

True, they have many of the same features as the Lowepro Pro Roller, but at $200 less money than their $429 price. The $279 is MSRP, $229 is MAP selling price. When was the last time you paid MSRP for anything?

My currently used bag is a Think Tank which rolls and meets airline guidelines. A an admitted, confirmed, recovering bag-a-holic, I've got upwards of 30 plus bags and each has its own use for me. For airline carry-on, I've also used my Tamarac backpack, my Tenba rolling case and, when carrying something like my 400/2.8, a Lightware bag kinda made for that purpose. Sorry, but I hope I was of at least some help, but I am STILL recovering!

Just a suggestion. I did pay full price for the Think Tank and would do it again. My bag has stood up to countless flights, trains, thrown in back of vans and anything else you could imagine. It is getting ready to go back to Southeast Asia for another assignment for a month and a half. It will have to endure many flights and modes of transportation, once again. Good luck on your search.
