great pics,,the 1st is my fav..love the angle..#3 has a little bit of black in the bottom left corner, that in my humble opinion could go away and not hurt the pic at all.

Thanks so much....consider the dark spot gone! lol

#1 - I love it. However, the poor fella needs some room at the top of his head, and perhaps a little sharpening. The angle is great. I do see by your comments that it was not a case of cropping too close. There are ways to extend the photo so that he does have more space. I have included an example of how you can do that. I have not done a great job as I don't want to spend too much time on it. You extend the canvas. I took a color from the background. Then, very carefully, you clone around the head. Then you can crop, leaving room around his head.

#2 - I love the treatment.

#3 - I am not sure about the brightness of the white spot. Your friend certainly does look pensive. He could use some catch lights in his eyes. Also, you do need to learn (as do I) how to select him without cutting his hair into a crew cut. It is obvious that he was placed on the background.

These are just my reactions. I am by no means an expert. Have a great day!

Hi thanks for taking your time to show me. As far as the hair thing I am now learning to extract...look for more versions when I master it. :)

I am sending a more finished redo.... the other one may have been too unfinished to give the idea.

All three are really nice photos. my favorite is the Riverboat it looks like it was taken during the Civil War.

They are all good but I like the ape best. It should take over "The Thinker"

Being from the South, I love the riverboat, and the "nostalgic" feel it has. I love the shot of the bird as well, and the ape, I would have chose a background that had trees or tall grasses to put him on, and used a softening tool set at about 35% transparency with a large brush on the edges after using the background eraser tool. That simple technic blends layers nicely.

I like the paddlewheel, but your portraits of the budgie and the gorilla show wonderful sensitivity and empathy. They're incredible!
