Love the TJ Jackson quote. <G> I'm assuming that you process your 4x5's at a later date. (Then again you know what they say about assume..)

Sometimes I have to reload the holders... Changing Bag time - and I keep the plastic bags from photo-paper as they are thick plastic and work well. As in the darkroom - this is all done by Feeling - Get your eyes on the tips of your fingers. This works for me.

If I have the crank-up camper I can develop the film, make contact prints = with chemicals I have in the camper. ( Yes... I have a darkroom lamp and light-tight curtains in it. )

Love your list. Gives me additional food for thought. I just finished 7 1/2 months traveling in RV with hubby from So. Cal to Alaska and back via Michigan and lower states. Spent 3 month in Alaska and now still reviewing the 6000 pics I have kept. (still deleting and editing). I had 3 cameras plus assorted gear. Its hard to delete though!

Longer photo trips are something I only recently started doing, and I absolutely love them. Most I was able to go at once is 16 days, but at the end of it I was not at all tired or wanting to come home, except I am very happily married also, so I did wanna come home and see my hubby again, and my dog too. But I don't get tired of the trip.

I prefer to take several shorter outing though, and go different directions. To go farther away I need more time.

I sleep in the back of my SUV, and hunt for a KOA or other campground with a shower when needed, and rough it in the national forest campgrounds when not. I tend to take all my camera gear with me on the trip, but not carry all into the field each time I get out of the car, but take what is needed for that spot.

I really need to find a coffee maker, as sometimes I have had to go a long time without, when not near anywhere to buy some. I eat pretty light, don;t want to waste shooting time eating, so its rolls or fruit in the car, and a drive thru if I am near a town.

I don't take many luxuries, but I have a heck of an enjoyable time.

YES!!!!

"I sleep in the back of my SUV"....

( Yes I too can pile the equipment over to one side of the Jeep and lay-out on one side - I have a good foam "pallet" I have modified with "memory foam" .. Works well. )

"I really need to find a coffee maker"....

( I make use of an old percolator that was my grandmothers. I start the water going - But I do not put in the strainer and pipe till it is boiling. Reason is for the instant Oatmeal that I make in the wee hours of the morning. I overfill the coffee pot by One Cup - and after it is boiling ( different times for different altitudes ) I pour off that one cup onto the oatmeal - And return the strainer to the boiling water and turn down the gas as to not have the damn thing boiling over and making a mess.
Then after my cup of coffee - I put the rest into the thermos and off I go to shoot at a place I have searched out on a map or have been before. I always look for different angles and perhaps unusual areas to shoot. )

I do not have "luxuries" - but I like to be somewhat comfortable.

When I get the Crank-Up camper with the new electrical system installed - I really plan to take that along. However.... In so doing I shall not be able to camp at a lot of the OFF-The-Beaten- Path as with the Jeep.

====================

Thank you for that clarification....

Well I just wanted to know how many others do long traveled trips for collecting photographic usable images. Either for sale or their own personal hobby.
And if they wanted to, list what they would take. I know that I take WAY TOO much. But Hey, It is a crappy day here in STL and I am holed up in the house all damn day - And I wanted to bother a few people.

:-)

Are you obtuse? This is a forum where people present ideas, information and opinion about photography.

What is YOUR point?

No one with a wife would be able to do what you do. But, why only 3 months out of the year? get an rv and you could go 100% and take more s--t. Why limit oyurself.
