loved the first one with the crab in the foreground. I was expectinga rusting hulk of a p-40 warhawk with flying tiger sharks mouth on its side.

LOL, Sinatraman, that is exactly what I thought I was going to see. I LOVE the P-40 (hence my avatar) and was all excited about seeing one that needed to be rescued and restored! Ivan, Fantastic as always. I love the one with the crab, even though crabs creep me out. Cheers.

Well Flathead somebody who named that boat probably had some connection to P-40s.As ffar as I know there are no tigers in Alaska and those I have seen in Zoos did not have any wings.
Alaska is a land of extremes but I admit this name is over the top. Thank you,Ivan.

Ivan, these are great. I really love the first 2, with the crab and the rocks in the forground. The Flying Tiger must have been there for ages!
I too wondered about the name.

Great shots! I also applaud the fact that you are an auto setting shooter. Thank you for those of us who do prefer it.

Ivan,
Stunning as always. I too figured that these were going to be about a P40, I'm an Air Force brat. was this one of the boats that has washed up on the shores of Alaska from Japan?

Blake

No,this is an Alaskan boat.As far as I know no debris from the Japanese tsunami reached this area yet.Now for the somehow misleading title for this thread the name of this wreck is really Flying Tiger. I must admit sometimes I like to give people a wrong expectation while not making anything up.
When you are into airplanes, are you familiar with Carvair and Bristol Freighter 170?
Thank you,Ivan.[/quote

Yes, I am. My grandfather was a Merchant Marine.

I have no idea when the Flying Tiger ended on the beach. It is in an area I did not visit for years. That day I was after Swans but they all left so I was looking for an alternate subjects.
Thanks,Ivan.

There are times when the situation may exceed the camera`s auto capability but they are very rare.An experienced photographer can make auto "P,AV and TV" handle just about any situation but the extremes.I prefer to concentrate on the subject and to let the camera do the computing. Most of the time the camera can do it better and much faster than any operator.I do not subscribe to myths.Thanks,Ivan.

I cannot figure out what Carvair and Bristol Freighter170 has to do with the Merchant Marine.

I may be mistaken but I thought that you werectalking about boats but if you are referring to aircraft like the air craft then most certainly.
