I've never seen them mentioned here, but Vivitar markets a line of camera batteries, including for Canon and Nikon. I have a pair for my 70D and have not seen any difference between them and Canon brand. Amazon carries them for $28 for two, including a travel charger.
Anything you get, make sure the chip is compatible so that the camera will correctly report the battery's charge level.

As you know Vivitar is a marketing company. All their products are made by someone else with their name on it. Vivitar batteries for your canon could be coming from the same source.

Greetings from Milwaukee. Have been following the forum for about a month and found it to be informative and helpful. Been in photography for over 50 years, started with a Kodak instamatic and just picked up a a refurbished Canon 70d. The equipment sure has changed, instant satisfaction. I am in need of oem batteries and found a site with great prices, Thephotoland.com. Wondering if anyone has dealt with this company? Thanks and have a great day.

Not saying that anyone else is bad or wrong, just my experience. I buy extra batteries from Amazon--others have them too. I read a review of 3rd party batteries a long time ago and they demonstrated the superiority of "Wasabi" brand batteries. At the time Amazon was the only source. I have been using this brand for several years on two Canon P&S cameas, one Canon camcorder, three Nikon cameras and my Sony a6000. I have not had anything but great results from the Wasabi. I have also used others, but the Wasabis seem a little better.

beware of any website to purchase electronics. do your research, as there are many sites that are scams, or sell pirated equipment. i have never had a problem with b&h photo, and if they know anything about an online competetor they will share the info with you, very friendly. also adorama is a well respected site.

Welcome!
Always get good after markets from Amazon
Don't last as long but they're very cost efficient...
