I'd take the two or three I'm really going to use and leave the rest at home--probably a wide angle, a prime (50?) and a tele zoom. That should cover it.

I would take the 50 1.8, the 18-55, the 28-300. And get a good camera back pack that 2 bodies can fit in with the lenses. And teach the girl friend how to use the second body.:):)

Recently, as a birthday present I got a nice Promaster lens case that has the "Pick & Pull" interior. I managed to end up with 11 openings for lenses, two small ones for batteries (for my Pentax K-50) and one small opening for a lens brush.

Here are the lenses I plugged the holes with, L -R, bottom to top.
1. SMC Pentax-M 28mm f:3.5
2. SMC Pentax-DA 50mm f:1.8
3. SMC Pentax-M 100mm f:2.8
4. SMC Pentax-DA L 18-55mm AL WR
5. SMC Pentax-DA 50mm f:2.8mm macro
6. SMC Pentax-DA 100mm f:2.8 macro
7. SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm (CF)
8. SMC Pentax-F 70-210mm (CF)
9. SMC Pentax DA L 55-300mm AL WR (CF)
10. Tamron 28-200mm (CF)
11. Sigma-AF(IF) 28-300mm AF (CF)

* I'm thinking about sneaking in my SMC Pentax-DA L 50-200mm AL WR!

I think, out of the lenses I have on hand, this should cover just about any possible situation I might come across.

I'm taking two camera bodies (both are Pentax K-50s) three SD cards, a monopod and a tripod.... as well as five batteries w/ charger (both AC and DC) and a small camera case filled with lens hoods, various filters (CP, UV, etc) a fairly complete set of Cokin Filters & a remote shutter release. Not to mention my HP laptop with editing programs loaded and several flash drives.

My girlfriend think's I've jumped the tracks!

Just for the sake of conversation, what would YOU take along if it were you? I realize that I'm in the minority, being that I shoot a Pentax camera.... but, just wanting to start a conversation on the subject.

I think taking all those lenses is a bit of overkill. As others have said, you have a lot of lenses that overlap each other.
The way I look at it, except for a tripod, if it doesn't fit in my camera bag with my camera body it's not going. That's just the way I roll.

will

One walk around zoom, a fast 50 and a good wide angle (either a zoom or a prime). I wouldn't even bother with a long lens unless wildlife was a big part of the plan.

When I travel I go even mor minimal, either the 24-105 L and 50/1.8 and my Canon 6D, a 28/2.8 and 50/2 and my Leica M Monichrom and M-E (the 28 on the color body) or just leave the whole mess behind and take my Leica X (113), which is APS-C with a fixed 35mm equivalent lens.

Seems to me that the packing strategy is a bit short on SD cards.

Also, you might also consider security measures for that case full of treasures. Are you comfortable leaving it a hotel room, or in the car while you're out shooting?

Lastly, a small light bag might be necessary to carry with you 1-2 lenses when youre out walking/hiking.

It looks like 7 of 11 lenses cover 18-100mm, 4 of 11 lenses cover 28-300. The question remains - "why"? lol

I think you should take it all. Maybe even add some. Then when you are on your next trip ......... alone, you can reflect on where it all went wrong. LOL

My take would be the lowest F stopped lenses as long as u have the focal length/mm issues covered. U as we all prob have some overlapping focal lengths/MM lenses.

I just went out from virginia to wyoming and all i had was my nikon d7000 d3300 I kept a 18 to 105 on the 3300 and had my 150 to 500mm on the 7000. The only other lens i had was a 55 to 300 so was pretty much covered. Unless you take an extreme amount of every kind of picture using all those lens. i would weed out what you think would be best. I had a camera bag thats medium size that i took with also batteries and chargers but in and out of motels/hotels.. it did get a bit weighty.. if you are doing alot of walking,, definately dont want to be carrying all that... wow.... im with your gf!!! lol just saying thats alot of changing lens,,,

You could leave your girl friend home and and have room for a few more lenses.

No....He needs the girl friend to help change lenses!!

My advice....Unless you're doing a story for Nat Geo, limit the number of lenses you're going to take. The 24-70mm f2.8 will probably cover most of your needs. Put a wide angle on a second camera and save yourself a lot of time. Oh!! You don't have a 24-70. I WOULD suggest that you pick one up!!

Personally, I'd pack a smaller bag and bring the 18-55mm AL WR, 55-300 mm AL WR ( because they're weather sealed), and the 100mm macro. You might perhaps consider getting the SMC Pentax DA 10-17mm lens to complete your collection.

A big EFFING Mercedes Unimog.....just to answer the original question (yeah does anybody remember what the original question was?)

http://www.unimogsales.com/unimogforsale-U4000-2007.html

By the way, add 25% more time to the trip for making lens decisions along the way.

For 95,000 Euros that thing needs to come with it's own personal masseuse.
