Recently, as a birthday present I got a nice Promaster lens case that has the "Pick & Pull" interior. I managed to end up with 11 openings for lenses, two small ones for batteries (for my Pentax K-50) and one small opening for a lens brush.

Here are the lenses I plugged the holes with, L -R, bottom to top.
1. SMC Pentax-M 28mm f:3.5
2. SMC Pentax-DA 50mm f:1.8
3. SMC Pentax-M 100mm f:2.8
4. SMC Pentax-DA L 18-55mm AL WR
5. SMC Pentax-DA 50mm f:2.8mm macro
6. SMC Pentax-DA 100mm f:2.8 macro
7. SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm (CF)
8. SMC Pentax-F 70-210mm (CF)
9. SMC Pentax DA L 55-300mm AL WR (CF)
10. Tamron 28-200mm (CF)
11. Sigma-AF(IF) 28-300mm AF (CF)

* I'm thinking about sneaking in my SMC Pentax-DA L 50-200mm AL WR!

I think, out of the lenses I have on hand, this should cover just about any possible situation I might come across.

I'm taking two camera bodies (both are Pentax K-50s) three SD cards, a monopod and a tripod.... as well as five batteries w/ charger (both AC and DC) and a small camera case filled with lens hoods, various filters (CP, UV, etc) a fairly complete set of Cokin Filters & a remote shutter release. Not to mention my HP laptop with editing programs loaded and several flash drives.

My girlfriend think's I've jumped the tracks!

Just for the sake of conversation, what would YOU take along if it were you? I realize that I'm in the minority, being that I shoot a Pentax camera.... but, just wanting to start a conversation on the subject.

I think you have a lot of overlap in focal lengths. Unless these lenses have specific strengths and weaknesses, I would reduce the number of lenses and make room for something else, like an extra body, a six pack or an extra pair of sox.

If each lens serves its own purpose for you, then go with what you've got. But you will be spending a lot of time switching lenses instead of shooting.

I shot with Pentax for 20 years before switching. Back then zooms gave really inferior results compared to prime lenses, so a case full was the norm. Today, a couple of specialized primes, maybe for macro or extreme focal lengths (long or short) and a few zooms should be all that you need to cover just about every situation.

But, you know your lenses and shooting style better than me, so what you have there might be the perfect fit.

I think you'll spend more time trying to figure out which lens is ther best and miss the shot!

Everyone has a different way of working -- think you are planning on too many. If "going heavy" I would bring
1. Favorite WA Prime
2. WA Zoom
3. Fast 50
4. Macro
5. Mid range zoom 24-120 equiv
6. Long lens or zoom

Mid zoom mounted on one body, wide zoom on the other. Anticipate use of macro or long lens as needed. As the light fails put the fast 50 on one body and shoot till you can't. Just finished a trip where I brought 17-35, 50/1.8, 24-85 (which I should have left home), 24-120 two bodies, same bits and pieces as you suggest. Could have brought 28-300 or long prime, but didn't need them. The three lenses did it all. Just one way of many! BTW, another foam set and your new case would hold both bodies and suggested lenses. Have fun on your trip!

If truth were to be told, I could probably take one body and the Tamron 28-200mm lens and I wouldn't ever be caught wanting! But, heck.... even for an afternoon's shoot out and about, I always throw this case in. It usually has the lenses named, loaded and ready to go. I know...., I know.... it's way overkill! But, that's just the way I roll! (Rolls eyes and kicks the tumbleweed at his feet)

There's no way I would even consider bringing that many lenses with me on a trip. Three wisely selected lenses, maybe four at most. There comes a point when more lenses does not result in better photography. And then there's also the risk factor. Should something terrible happen to the case while on the trip, such as theft, you will lose a lot of good lenses all at once.

Way too much redundancy to be traveling with. I think it would be a great case for keeping all those wonderful lenses safe at home; but I would not want to lug all that stuff around.

2 macro lenses? The 100mm should do everything you would want, I would think. I would also take the 50mm f/1.8 and no more then 3 zooms to cover as much range as possible. Every time I travel I end up taking more lenses then I need and it often is a pain in the butt and distracting besides trying to decide which ones to use. I find that the ones I use the most are my wide angle zoom (16-35) and mid-range zoom (70-200). Keep your choices simple and enjoy the trip. Having a nice case doesn't mean you HAVE to fill it! BTW, your girlfriend may be on to something!:)

3 lenses no interest at all in which ones. Fill the other holes in that delightful case with assorted drugs. Weed coke crack and ecstasy. Spend the trip smashed outta ya box with gf in the same state and give the gal a break from your obsessive behavior off the tracks.

Easy. I would take a case with 9 empty holes seeing as I only have two lenses. But those lenses suit me just fine.

Does that case actually close with the lenses sticking up like that?

Personally, I usually toss the pic'n'pull foam because it constrains what you can use the case for. I replace it with a padded divider insert and move dividers as needed. I have a number of Pelican cases of various sizes; I have several that are compatible with Lowepro Omni bags.

The problem with a big case is that you tend to fill it with stuff, and then you are stuck lugging it around. I admit, I overpack as well. But I always bring a small bag with me so I can carry just what I need and leave the rest where I'm staying.
