Unless you attach sentimental value to it or it's a rare coin a collector would be interested in, it's worth nothing. All the countries that use the Euro got rid of their own currency and no longer accept it for anything. There was a period after the change over, when you could exchange local currency for Euros, but that has long since expired.

In Germany at special banks you can still exchange the former currency
in Euro.

I was stationed in Germany from '72-76.... It was somewhere around 2 Marks to the Dollar. 100 Pfennig to a Mark. Was probably worth a nickle at that time. Basically worthless to the average person then and now. "IF" it was in mint condition, it would be worth approx $30 to a collector according to the website COINQUEST.COM .

I guess that I am being picky, but there is no such thing as an American Penny. We have a one cent piece, but not a Penny. A Penny is a coin used in England.

It is just a "colloquial" term in the US.

Really, even after all this time? I wasn't aware of that, thanks for the info Thott. Do you know if that's also true in other countries of the Euro Zone?

Hello,
sorry, but I do not know if this is still
possible in other EU countries.

As of 1967 it was worth 12 1/2 cents US. In 1967 we get 5 Marks for a dollar.

I doubt there would be any collector interested in a worthless 10 pfennige piece. I have hundreds of them.
