Back when that coin was minted it was worth about 2 cents in American money. Probably worth about the same now. It was a pretty common coin, like an American penny.

I bought many an ice cream cone with those coins when I was a little boy in Berlin. 10 Pfenig (pennies in English) would buy you an ice cream cone or ice cream sandwich. At that time the exchange rate between the US Dollar and the German Mark was 4 to 1. So 4 10 Pfenig coins were worth a dime.

It's worth is likely limited to what a collector would pay. At the time of the introduction of the Euro, a "turn in period" was given to trade in "pre-Euro" currency. They're not required to accept it now.
Don't expect your coin to become a collector's item anytime soon. Even today, nearly every household in Germany has at least one of them in the back of a drawer or underneath the dresser. And you can occaisionally still find them on roads and streets throughout Germany.
That coin is 65-years old. It would make a young coin-collector very happy.
Not much. I've got dozens of them from when I was a kid growing up in Germany.

Hello,
Sorry about it, but this coin has no value.
If such coins are in a new condition it
depends to the coinage city and
of course to the date.
The coinage location can be identified
by the small letter. In your case seems to
be "G" = city Karlsruhe
See the attached list for the today
collector value of a 10 Pfennig coin
in a new condition with the respective
coinage city.
Can't add much to the above except to say that the coin probably has an iron core (see if it's magnetic). It's not worth much but if kept in damp conditions it will eventually "burst" as the iron rusts and expands. I found plenty of burst coins when I used to metal detect in Germany.

As the others have said, probably not a collector's item.
When I was a kid, my friends and I came across an abandoned Coke machine. Looking in the coin box, we found a few coins. A couple of them had the Nazi swastika on them. I knew what that symbol was, but I wasn't interested enough to make sure I save those coins. This was maybe 10 or 11 years after the war ended.
Mine's from 1949, different wording, letter..
I was stationed in Germany 1967-1970. 100 pfenings to a mark and 4 marks to a dollar!

I guess that I am being picky, but there is no such thing as an American Penny. We have a one cent piece, but not a Penny. A Penny is a coin used in England.
