Stop all bribe paying lobbyist from spending one red cent to get what they want. We put them trolls in there to represent us not the guys with the most bucks. Nothing wrong with lobbying as long as no money or favors liks free lunch or vacitions.

Here is what a lobbyist has to say about term limits.

Why don't we have a lottery for selection of congress? When "appointed" the term is 6 years, you get a great salary, life time retirement, and well rewarded. I would stagger the times for serving so there is continuity. Of course the appointed would be required to demonstrate predetermined qualifications.

While I'm at it, why not outlaw lobbying?

You know that "lobbying" is derived from the actual "lobby" in England's parliament building where party members co-mingled and made deals.

My opinion is lobbying can be good, so long as it stays out of candidate funding. They should be nothing more than a group with a common interest/goal. That is why Lessig limits contributions (mentioned in my posted response). Consider buying his book. He provides you a view of Congress, in detail, motivating him to use the book title "republic, lost." Check Lessig's background in Wikipedia.

You know that "lobbying" is derived from... (show quote)

In a recent conversation with my state representative I commented about my feeling about lobbying. Her response was we need lobbyists to write the legislation! My experience tells me groups of citizens to act as advisors on specific issues can provide a less biased recommendation than the lobbyist who is hired by a narrowly focused interested party (industry, corporation, zealot, etc.). I know my dream of no lobbyists will not come true, so maybe we need a "citizen lobby"?

Ole sarg, were you a congressman? Only someone in that position would disagree with a reasonable plan. Why should a congressman make more money and have more benefits than I have? Especially as of late when none of them can seem to get anything accomplished. Congress is way out of hand and this needs to be corrected.

The entire Federal employee system, right up to the president's cronies, congressional cronies and every department would do better if they were Decimated in the old Roman fashion, regardless of party.

what the Romans did was kill one in every ten of (a group of soldiers or others) as a punishment for the whole group. The other 9 had to do the job.

Perhaps than, the government will do the job they were elected to do, not their own very personal agenda.

HMMMM....sounds like a plan!

Didn't one of the founding fathers warn us about that exact same thing?
