like the shot but I would get rid of the cars. They add nothing, but take away. So away with them.

Thank you Philo, It didn't cross my mind, but I think I agree with you.

the first thing i do when i'm going to work on an image is to look for anything that i don't want in my finish image. i.e. cars, signs, people etc etc. then I will crop the photo. just part of my workflow.

I agree Donna, that it is classy, and I appreciate the compliment. As to the history, I took a tip from our mutual friend James 56. He always adds a little story with every image and I realized how much I enjoy that. Also, I thanked him. I am teachable!

I normally do the same thing, however, these images were for the park originally, and they picked the one with the cars. I don't think they noticed them, but it was their choice. I attached a copy without the cars, and also one of the original shots that they did not prefer, which was straight on and cropped close. Again, I really appreciate your thoughts and critique. Take care and God bless!

it would cost you a pretty penny to heat the place.

The picture is just plain awesome....I love old homes. I had a lot of pictures of old ranch houses in North Dakota and lost them in a fire. Keep posting your great pictures.

Very kind words Jack, I share your love for the grand old houses/barns/buildings. Many are true treasures and should be saved if possible. I suppose that we are saving them when we photograph them. Thanks again.

Located 2.5 miles east of Troy Ohio on State Rt. 41, it is now a Miami County park (Lost Creek Farm).
Built in 1873, it is the third structure on this site. The original cabin was built in 1800, and later replaced by a larger brick structure, which was torn down to build the current house.
The house was owned and occupied by the Knoop family(Mark and Dorothy).
The 4 original cabin stones still sit in the herb garden behind the garage of the current house. You can tour the house and surrounding grounds including the family graveyard. Viewed best on download.
