I know you want an all in one but if you want a really good photo printer Adorama and B&H have the Pixma Pro 100 for $49.00 with rebates. You can pick up a PIXMA MX922 for between $81.99 to $99.00 on the Amazon and the two dealers I mentioned above. You get the best of both worlds and won't be wasting ink for documents on your photo printer. Be sure you have plenty of room for them both because the Pixma Pro 100 is big.
Canon MX922. About $90, 5 cartridges which can be bought on Amazon for about $1 apiece (third party). The cartridges have performed flawlessly. OK on photo's but not a high end photo printer. Wireless. I have two, and bought one for a friend of mine. I am planing on buying yet another for my daughter for xmas.

If an inkjet gets constant use it would last for 20 years easy. If it doesn't get constant use it may last about 6 months.
I got an Epson inkjet (use very little may be a couple of prints a month) and it get clogged beyond repair after 6 months. Epson exchanged for me a new one and this one again clogged after 6 months.
I also have an old HP Deskjet Plus. It's the second version of the Deskjet I bought it in 1989 and it still works fine when I threw it away because I moved in 2011,
I read a lot about people having problems with clogged heads. I've had my Epson about 3-3 1/2 yrs with never a problem. Aside from the question of what ink do you use I would also ask how you shut it down. The reason I ask is because I know from experience that some people simply turn off the power strip or surge protector that the printer is connected to, or some never turn them off. I am in the habit of always using Epson ink and shutting down using the printer's power button. You can hear it go through a shut down procedure that it doesn't do when the power is simply switched off. Don't know if that makes a difference, but I would assume that the procedure exists for a reason. BTW, I print in spurts. Sometimes I print heavily for several days and sometimes the printer is unused for weeks.

If you send me your email and I can share a Meetup Workshop Powerpoint that we did on Printers, Paper and Workflow. Discusses printer models, prices ranges, pigmented inks, dye based inks and hybrid inks. Also paper combinations with ink that increase longevity of your prints all within your budget. I worked in the commercial paper and printing industries for over (39) years.

Looking for an all-in-one fax, scan, copy, photo print, etc. What would you suggest under $200 that uses hi-cap individual ink cartridges. I like Brother, HP new or refurb.

I use a cheap Epson model C88+ for my everyday (almost daily)needs that I bought about 8 years ago for $89.00; it still works just fine, but I haven't done photo work on it since I bought an Cano PIXMA Pr0 9000 MK II a couple of years back.
The only negative now about the Epson is that the local store (Staple) doesn't stock ink any longer; they say the demand is low because there are so few still operating :( . The only consession that I make because of is age is not to stock much ink so I have fewer to throw out if/when it dies.
I use OEM inks only after having a disaster with a business copier/printer using knock off HP cartridges. Ink = cheap vs. replacement printers/copiers.

If you want that big rebate, make sure you click on both rebates, the $149 and the $200. When I got my $300, it was in the form of an Amex card.
Jerryg, I have two printers, an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and an Epson Photo R2000 (which replaced my recently deceased 7 year old Epson 1400). For serious photo printing I use the Epson, but for everything else I use the HP. It does it all, fax, scan, copy and print and it is wireless. I got it refurbished from HP for less than $200 (3 years old now). I just replaced the original ink that came with it. It does a decent job printing 4x6 photos and 8x10's look good too.
Using a Brother MFC J870 DW. Good printer, around $129.00 with 4 ink cartridges. Tech support is very good and reliable.
Have used Brother printers for at least 10 years with little or no major concerns.
One factor that needs evaluation is the nature of the inks. Before Epson came out with 'archival' inks, the then inkjet inks were subject to fading. I haven't kept up on the ink technology for quite a few years, so have no knowledge whether the 'organic' inks have improved or not. I am currently using an Epson Workforce 4 with a C86 as backup (need inks for it though).

Epson is my choice....Rich
I 3 of these on ebay for $30. and the ink is $30. dose what you want.
You can find good deald but check out the cost of ink before you buy. I've bought over 50 printers in 5 years. Epson is the best, then Canon, HP. If your going to do a lot of printing check out CISS systems on ebay.
Then I got this for large format 13 x 19.
LARGE FORMAT 13 X 19 PRINTERS
If your in to large prints as I am try this printer I love it.

When I buy a printers I always price ink for it. This works out to be great ink for this printer.

A 13 x 19 sheet of photo paper is about $1.00 any place. I use mostly Red River paper makes the best prints. I would say I print over 1000 printers a year.
Being in business (Novelty PHOTO Booth) we need back ups. Bought 3 printers and 6 sets of ink 2 years shelf lift. Make it a fun thing.

There is NO photo quality printer than also incorporates a scanner and/or a fax machine, as does my HP Officejet Pro 6830 4-color printer.
Sorry. Not the case. My epson xp-860 is exactly that. Beautiful 8x11 photos (As good as the big photo printers) good copies, scanning, and fax. I paid $225. It uses 6 carts. My friend has an xp-420 was $89 and does "decent" photos as well as scan, copy, fax. Canon also has some competitive offerings.

I like mine as well. I think the new model is the 8620.

I would go with an Hp 8600 4 in 1 color printer. I've had mine for over 8 years and it's still the best printer I own and not an ink guzzler.
