Are these typically emails that have attachments. I don't know how to state this, as I am still sorting out similar problems related to GMail.
I will say this, GMail has been on a hunt and lockdown for security, and have really tightened up things on attachments among other thing.
I am not using Gmail at the moment because of this, and switched back to my Yahoo accounts.
