I wish I had kept all those metal cans. You just never know when things are going to gone forever. I remember when you could walk into any bank and buy silver dollars - for a dollar. I had a bunch of them.
All you needed is a 1 dollar silver certificate

When I was selling cameras back in 01 and 02, there was a digital back for the F3 but it was like 2mp and cost more than i was making.

When I started they were made of aluminum and had screw on tops.
This is what I remember. I still have one that I had riveted onto my nail pouch to hold parafin, the better to make those little brads work in hard woods. It's kinda banged up.
Nowadays I covet the plastic ones to hold pills, and I've been using plastic film canisters to take my morning and evening pills for over 20 years.

You guys aren't that old. Here are the Kodak film cans from the early 50s. This is how Kodachrome, ASA 10 came. What a treat when they brought out the new high speed slide film, Kodachrome ASA 25.
And were color coded by film type.

My dad and one of our close friends shot a lot of Kodachrome in the 40s and early 50s. When I started buying my own film in the silver can I bought Kodachrome II (ASA 25). The Yellow caps went into 68 or 69 for Kodachrome II and X and the Ektachromes X, H, and HB (E-3 and E-4 processing).
There were also some red and green caps. Does anyone remember what these were for.
Another observation: I can remember this, but I have trouble remembering things I read this morning.
I did not start taking pictures until I was in the service. I want to say maybe late 1971. I was out of basic training and was at Maryland proving grounds. A got guy me hook on taking pictures and developing them on the base. I guess that is why I don't remember the ones with the colored tops. Thank you for saying the dates. I was wondering why I had not seem them or remember them.
Not big enough--I am old.
