Keep posting your complaints. It strengthens my resolve to NOT get acquainted with 10 until I am absolutely forced to do it. I am quite happy with 7 and believe in the old axiom 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

I agree.... Windows 7 (I run the Pro version) is one of the best so I see no need to upgrade to 10 even though I downloaded the software to do it.

If you're getting sick of me posting about my Win10 update problems, just let me know.

The error message I keep getting is "We cannot update the Reserved Partition." This is part of a response I got on the MS help site. I'm still working on this, and more information will be posted there, but does this make sense to anyone?

"There is no Active partition on a UEFI install which uses an EFI System partition to boot rather than the Legacy MBR System Reserved.
Apparently however the error refers to either EFI System or MBR Sys Reserved as "System Reserved."

Aloha jerry,

This may be coming from right field but I called Microsoft and had their technician take remote control of my computer to fix anything that was stopping a clean install and then installed updates 5 at a time as doing them all at once will cause problems she said.
I know she was in the Philippines but I could understand her well and she obviously had a supervisor there but everything works great now.
If you can't get it yourself , maybe give them a call.?
Good luck,M.M.

Now there's an idea! I've had this one for over eight months, and it's probably outdated. And, like every other day, I got mail from Dell telling me about their great deals on computers. For about the same price, I could get wheels and snow tires, though.

Do I detect a smidgen of sarcasm? So becoming when spot on. ;)

I've been upgrading to W10 for a while, on private basis and customers. All problems are small minor problems related to drivers. People still believe in Plug-And-Pray, and it works, but let's be honest, some things has to be done manually. And thats where users fail.

Kudos to Nikon_Jon : "if it ain't broken, don't fix" and this should be rule nr.1 for everybody on MS system with little knowledge on how to perform technical tasks as driver updates, partitioning, bios settings.

iT'S GREEK TO ME... BUT KEEP ON GOIN'. I MIGHT RUN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM... SOMEDAY.... I won't install that VERsion 'till who knows when! Rite now I have a mail folder "1- - -10". When I see number "10" in a mail link it gets directed to that folder. [Komando has a ton of them] For the time being I'll stick with

It's surprising how many places in England, Germany, Mexico and Australia have Linotypes for typesetting.

HI Jerry I have just upgraded for free to windows 10 from windows 7. I took my computer to my very good computer man and it cost £45. For this I had it cleaned before the upgrade and all my programs were there the same. I get 30 days to see if I like it and if not I can go to the settings and have it put back to windows 7, and I will still have a cleaned pc. So far there have been no problems and it is running fine.... The chap in Curry's/ PC world told me I would have to reload all my programs and made it out to be such a hard job, I am glad I had it done by Jay ( my computer man ) and did not try what the chap in the shop had suggested....

The author suffered the same problems, Jerry. Check out the step by step instructions that worked for him.

When running the Command Prompt in Accessories, be sure to right click on the shortcut/link and use "Run as administrator". Copy/Paste the DOS Commands in item 6 of the instructions to avoid a mistake.

Jerry, first I've read your posts you for years and have much respect for your level of expertise. Now I need some help with Windows 10. I installed it and now I cannot locate my "older" photos on the computer. They are very dear to me & I hate to loose them. (Not sure what all I have backed up. and sometimes I like to print, mat & frame them.) Now, I'm struggling to figure this out. I read on UHH I can go back to my old Windows program but only in 1 months time. Any suggestions Jerry ? Much respect. rpm

Hello rpm....have you tried doing a search? If you can remember the name of the folder(s) where your photos are located, enter it in the search box and if it exists, the search should find it.
From there you can move it where you want. Good luck.
