From what I've read, Canon has had electronic shutters for awhile. Maybe Nikon is on to this trend?

With the price of corn these days, you'd better slip into a neighbor's field tonight and harvest a little extra.

It's an electronic diaphragm in the lens, not the shutter in the camera.

EDIT: Nikon introduced electronic diaphragms with the D3, in 2008.

It's 50 - 60 cents an ear in this area. I bought it once, when it was five for a dollar.

Congrats, 2 of the 6 I have ordered shipped by Nikon today as well, no work on when the other 4 will be shipped though, they are "spreading the wealth" it would seem.

I'm really looking forward to your test shots and impressions. I picture a bull elk bugling in Yellowstone. Maybe I can tape some antlers on a cow.

I ordered the new 24-70mm Nikon lens a couple of weeks ago from B&H but for some reason Nikon is not releasing it until Oct. 7. It was one of the three new lenses, including the the 200-500, that Nikon announced. I'm looking forward to getting that as soon as it's shipped. The 200-500 sounds interesting too. I'd also like to see the results for that one.

I was lucky they shipped it before the Yom Kippur holy days next week. In addition, UPS sent out an alert that their shipping in the NYC area would be disrupted next week due to the Pope's visit. (I guess this means the mighty UPS is not infallible.)

Photeach and Jerry, I have an average of 35,000 ears per acre. With the present price of corn, I'm getting about 2.3 cents per ear. Still, I'm blessed with very good yields this year so I'm grateful for a bountiful harvest. If you want to come out and glean some ears, you are certainly welcome.

Actually, my wife knows all about it and she's fine with it. I started out by telling her about the new 500 f4 but explained that ten grand was just too much. She admitted that $1400 was very reasonable in comparison. But then she said I should have picked a $20,000 lens to compare to so I could get something better. (With a knowing smile on her face.) Busted.
