Just got the email on my phone as I'm harvesting corn. B and H says it should be here in 3 days.
Kind of felt the need to tell someone since I can't tell my wife. Lol

Congrats, 2 of the 6 I have ordered shipped by Nikon today as well, no work on when the other 4 will be shipped though, they are "spreading the wealth" it would seem.

This is likely my next lens purchase, and would greatly appreciate you guy's impressions when you get the lens.

Thanks.

I would seriously appreciate your impression of this lens. No doubt many others would as well. Thanks.

In looking at the Nikon specs for the new 200-500, it appears from the compatibility list that it only works with late model bodies. For example, the D90 and D200 are not listed as compatible. I guess this may be due to the electronic diaphragm but am not sure. I have one on order but if it doesn't work on 2 of my 3 bodies, I may have second thoughts. Anyone know if it has been confirmed that the lens does not work on older bodies?

I ordered the new 24-70mm Nikon lens a couple of weeks ago from B&H but for some reason Nikon is not releasing it until Oct. 7. It was one of the three new lenses, including the the 200-500, that Nikon announced. I'm looking forward to getting that as soon as it's shipped. The 200-500 sounds interesting too. I'd also like to see the results for that one.

According to Nikon, the 200-500 is not compatible with cameras made before 2007. It has a new electronic shutter. The 24-70 is also in that category.

I wondered why you ordered so many. Careless? Prone to lose things? Then I looked over to see who you were. That's what happens when someone changes an avatar. It's like kids coming to the door on Halloween. You can't recognize anyone. :D

That's a shame because we know people hate buying new cameras. :D

I think a call to Nikon would be appropriate, since this would be the first time Nikon would have limited a lens to certain camera's.

I would appreciate feedback also, as I was on the fence so to speak with the 80-400. Thanks in advance.

Carter; would appreciate any feedback on this lens and some photo ops you could post from the Yellowstone area.
Oh, like the new avatar!
