Hello All,
I'm driving from Ohio to New Jersey this weekend, for work, and wanted to get suggestions for good wildlife opportunities along the way. I'll be taking I80 most of the way and wouldn't want to venture more than a hour out of the way.
Thanks a lot and have a great weekend.

Pine Creek Gorge, also known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, is located about an hour north of I-80 near the town of Wellsboro. From I-80 take US-15 North to Pa-414 West to Pa-287 North to Wellsboro. Pine Creek Gorge is just west of Wellsboro, there are plenty of signs.
Pine Creek Gorge is especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing.
Google and look at the Deleware Water Gap. Very close to I80 and offers some amazing opportunities. ;)

Thank you Mac.
I might head up there on the way back.

US Route 6, which runs through Wellsboro, has been designated a scenic by-way in Pennsylvania by National Geographic.
The Pennsylvania section begins on the Delaware River Bridge in Port Jervis, NY and runs through Pa.
In Ohio it runs along Lake Erie to Sandusky, then on to Indiana. I have driven it and it is a very nice drive.
In my opinion the eastern part through the mountains has more dramatic views than the western part through farm land.
If you have the time it's worth the drive.
Edited to add:
I have driven it through Pa. to Cleveland but no farther than that.

Yeah, I live south of Sandusky and a lot of my favorite spots are on RT.6 including the very popular Magee Marsh West of Sandusky and Old Woman Creek to the East. All part of the Ohio Birding Trail. You should come a little farther west. :)
Go on the Penn. Turnpike... you'll see more deer than anywhere else in the state. Moreover, you don't even have to leave the car.. there all over the road. It looks like a butcher shop from all the hits by semis.
Two spots you might like The Great Swamp just south of 80 off Rte 287 south to the Harter Road exit follow signs. Once there don't forget to stop by the Raptor Trust on Whitebridge Road. (Bird hospital) Another spot closer to NYC is Dekort Park in the heart of the meadow lands, always good photo opts there. Good luck!

What part of NJ will you be visiting?
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
I'm trying to research them all. :)

Hi Joe,
I'll be in Trenton for a couple of days.
I know I'm late to the game, but hopefully someone along the way will mention Bushkill Falls in PA. It's on Bushkill Rd in Lehman Twp a mere 13 miles north of rt 80 on 209 then to Bushkill Falls Rd. It's called The Niagara of PA.
If you are a firearm enthusiast, leave your shooting irons at home, or just stay out of New Jersey. Guns are not welcome in NJ. Several people with concealed carry permits from other states have been jailed in NJ, facing serious repercussions, because they thought NJ would honor their CC permits. It's almost like Mexico. NJ is just one big self defense free zone. Personally, I stay out of that state. They don't want me there, anyway.
