Thanks, Mike. Let's look at them individually.
#1 I think you missed the point of that one. The name of the park is after a founder of the KKK. That is quite a bit different. Also, we were talking about memorials for fallen soldiers who gave their all. Not State Parks. Ridding our nation of any adulation for someone who founded the KKK is probably a good thing. The author was also poking fun at the comparison with ISIS by the southern legislator.
#2 It's the confederate flag, Mike. A state sponsored display of a symbol co-opted by the KKK to stand for racism, Racial hatred and unspeakable violence and torture done to our American Citizens.
#3 and#4 Neither of these is a memorial to fallen soldiers, is it? It refers to statues glorifying the KKK founders.
#5 Is another instance of a KKK founder or big wig, not a memorial to fallen American (even though they were not Americans having ceded from America) soldiers.
So, Mike, You got me on the Fox News comment; but, why don't you check out the Fox News reporting and commentary on the Confederate Flag while you're at it.
None of your cites have anything to do with war memorials to fallen Confederate soldiers, who, no matter how misguided, fought and gave their lives for a rebellion against the United states. Some might call them traitors, or dupes of traitors. They have as much right to be memorialized for giving their lives in combat, however, misguided. And the South's history cannot be denied, overlooked or minimized. I just wish it didn't still control the Southern citizenry's consciousness after all these years. It only causes divisiveness and hatred and racial problems.
Mike, I would appreciate it if you checked your sources more carefully before posting in an argument. I just wasted too much of what little time I have left on the planet correcting you.
Our country needs more critical thinking for the future than what you have just displayed.
Rick
