I guess I am the Ginnie pig I went ahead and installed it. I can always uninstall if necessary. I just had to see what they offered free. I will let you know if I **ck up.

I have 64 bit Win 7 Pro. Anyone have this OS and upgrade to Win 10? Any issues with drivers, ... I'd appreciate feedback. I want to upgrade, but I feel a little waiting might be a wise move. Any opinion?

Thanks,

I'll probably upgrade in the next couple of days.
I have Windows 7 64-bit OS and find LR/PS take a long time to even display the splash screen.

So, I recently went out and purchased an iMac with the 27" Retina display. What a difference!

I can open BOTH LR/PS on the iMac and be editing a photo long before I even SEE the splash screen for either program on the Windows machine.

Learning curve for switching from one OS to the other is enough to keep an elderly person active for awhile... LOL

I did the upgrade yesterday morning and everything is running fine. It seems much more responsive and I like the new browser.

No issues for me on a 4 year old laptop, the upgrade took about 90 minutes. So far, I like this better than the Windows 7 I was running before. (64 bit Professional)

I upgraded this afternoon it took less than an hour (I have an ssd for the OS) I was going to wait, however a driver update for my graphics card was available for install and it was the one for win10 so I thought what the heck and went for it. The only annoying thing was Bitdefender needed to be uninstalled and then a win10 compatible version downloaded and installed, I could have waited for Windows update to do it automatically but I would be with out an antivirus for up to 4 hours and that didn't seem like a good idea.

I have in fact upgraded to 10 pro on my Dell Latitude Ultrabook. It was actually the smoothest Windows upgrade to date. It was either able to use the existing driver, or install new ones. I bought this notebook used, and the former owner downgraded it from 8.1 to 7 for whatever reason. There was no Win 7 driver for the fingerprint scanner, so it never worked until now when 10 successfully found a driver.

I've not used it that much yet, but no trouble so far. Boot up is very fast. I do think the Edge browser is faster than Chrome too. At least for now.

My plan is to go to a store and see how Windows 10 operates. Then first put it on the laptop that I don't use very often. I'll image the hard drive first. Then I can format and go back to Windows 7 if I don't like it.

If you download Window 10 and don't install it within the one year time frame I think you will not be able to activate it for free.

Microsoft has a habit of releasing a new operating system full of bugs. The early receivers are essentially Beta testers. Based upon their difficulties MS issues upgrades SP1, SP2, etc.

Microsoft uses all of us as crash dummies. No matter how hard they may try to work out the kinks, it never happens. I will wait at least 9 months. My 7 Ultimate is working awesome.

According to Microsoft notifications and interviews from PC magazines, there will be no more SERVICE PACKS for the OS. Instead, they will simply do all of the updates and improvements over time and download them as standard updates. This is why the choice to turn off updates has been removed from WINDOWS 10.

I love it when people assume things rather than do research and read information that has been already out there either on the web, or in publications. Most of the trepidation is either from self induced errors from past experience or people who don't follow directions well or comprehend what they are reading.

However, Microsoft's claim that this will be the LAST OS seems to be an absurd statement since technology and CPUs and computers will advance, so a new or different OS will eventually be required to support this new technology.

JMHO.

Installed Win 10 Pro on two machines last night. One was a Microsoft Surface Pro and the other was Dell Precision 6500. The Surface tablet was upgraded from win 8.1 and the Precision from Win 7 Pro. The Precision is a backup machine and not my work computer. Have another dozen or so machines to upgrade. Will wait on those for awhile since they are on a Windows Server network.

The two updates that I have done went without a flaw. Downloaded Win 10 iso and also used bootable usb key. Both installs were upgrades to retain all apps and files. Adobe apps still work just fine.

By the war Cortana is kind of slick.

lol maybe Microsoft is planning on going out of business after this os is obsolete. We could always get a rumor started and use their "this is the last OS" statement as supporting comments.

No more service packs, only "standard updates." "A rose by any other name smells just as sweet."

Same situation as Math78 except I have Windows Pro 8.1 on both.
I'll update the laptop in the closet when I get a round tuit. On the desktop...I'll wait.

I've learned to be patient. In fact, I only upgraded my iPhone to iOS 8.4 a few days ago.

When I did the reserve the 10 thing, I read an excerpt from Forbes and got really spooked. Then cancelled. Now I see all these folks with problems. You really don't get anything free!
