Hey Dook, a funny story about Brolgas.
I met a woman in England back in the late 60s, who had cooked for a survey team in Northern Territory.
She was taught how to cook brolga. You put the bird in a camp oven with a rock. Cook it until the rock is tender, eat the rock & chuck the rest out.
She was a hard case but worked in St Thomases hospital, London, on the heart transplant team at the time. Obviously been around.

LOL There's an old variation of that one here in the states. It's called Rock Soup, and it's about a clever hobo who figured out a way to get a free meal.
