I have a D7000. I read something about the LCD glass being hard but the protective covers are about $5. Seems like cheap insurance, I bought one.
I highly recommend the Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm F1.8. It is a prime lens (use your feet to zoom), tack sharp, fast, a "Normal" lens for DX format, and a fabulous walk around lens. Bonus, the cost is about $200, or less, NEW.
I forgot to say I do have a 35mm 1.8, but for some reason seldom use it and I know its sharp !! Thanks !!!
