Some one asked me what the color version of my BW "transitions" shot looked like. I originally shot it with BW processing in mind....but....
In the color shot the "transition" from the blue sky and white clouds, to the stormy gray skies can clearly be seen.
Thoughts or opinions please?

They both are good they simply tell a different story.
#1 is such a pleasing, interesting study of the rock shapes and a sky that seems to go on forever.
In #2 my eye is initially drawn to the open blue sky, so the overall image doesn't have as much impact.
Can you reload #2 with "store original?"

I prefer the color to be sure.

Paul I like both. However the first one tells a story of a storm coming and the second tells the story of hope and light at the end of the storm.

Thank you! I'm beginning to see this now. It's so interesting to hear others perspective on our work. I get so myopic in my thinking it's really refreshing to hear others thoughts!

Fixed!
Thanks :)
Downloaded, the color image is brighter and sharper.
There is something about the imbalance of the composition that is more noticeable to me with the color version. Because of my eye being drawn to the bright blue spot in the sky, as I mentioned earlier, and all the rocks being on the left, I find myself wanting something on the right side that would balance.
With the b&w I don't have this "problem" :) Part of that is the dark tones of the sky on the right side being more noticeable with the less intrusive light gray vs. bright blue on left. I think it's super you thought about this as a b&w right from the beginning!

This was a really interesting exercise, Paul! I took a b&w online course in March and one of our assignments was to show a color and b&w of same scene, where converting to b&w removed a "distracting" color (not the subject) from the composition.
