Thank you! I'm beginning to see this now. It's so interesting to hear others perspective on our work. I get so myopic in my thinking it's really refreshing to hear others thoughts!

In general I will often take a shot that is fine in color and flip it to B&W. At times I get two great pictures. I also helps me to see envision a location in both. If we always think in color, there are oodles of missed pictures.

For some reason I like the B&W more.

I definitely prefer the B&W, mostly for the reasons Linda has already stated.
Now you all have me wondering what some od my images would look like as B&W. Hmmm - I need to start experimenting!

I find it quite easy most of the time when deciding between BW and color... These two are IMO absolutely equal in their impact! Nicely done!

Hi Paul! Both are beautiful shots. But I have to go with colored one. I shot to much black and white back in the day. :):)

Some one asked me what the color version of my BW "transitions" shot looked like. I originally shot it with BW processing in mind....but....

In the color shot the "transition" from the blue sky and white clouds, to the stormy gray skies can clearly be seen.

Thoughts or opinions please?

I took the liberty of pumping up the image a little for more drama. Ran it through Snapseed on the iPad. Hope you don't mind.

Amazing how the black and white gives me the feeling of despair and the color hope. Outstanding

I like both. The color seems a bit more serene, the BW has more mood.Good work

Both are excellent. What shutter speed did you use?

I am in the color camp. It gives the viewer options of what to feel. You said storm coming in, so I saw the ominous storm clouds slowly taking over the blue sky. Others mentioned the "hope" of the blue, which brought to mind the blue sky appearing as the storm retreats. Both are good interpretations depending on the mood and thoughts of the viewer.

With the B&W, I see it as an image that is about the sea and the rocks, and the storm aspect is less obvious.
