FedEx dropped off a factory refurbished SX50 at my door on Friday. I spent some time reading the manual and getting aquainted with the controls. I got out for a little walk today and I am pleased with the results.
It is no DSLR, but for a small inexpensive camera it isn't bad. I won't mind taking it places where I wouldn't want to take a more expensive camera, like on my boat.

Impressively great pictures! Back in the day, my job involved traveling and photographing commercial real estate (and, less often, turtles) - would have liked having a camera capable of creating the sort you shared. Thanks!
PS: Based on Mulie's post, I just ordered an SX50 refurb.

Very, very nice, Mulie! It's a great camera and the telephoto range is awesome. Good work....more......more!

It's next on my list. I already own a SX-510 as a backup to my Nikon D7200, but it's lack of a viewfinder is maddening. The SX-50 was the "go to" superzoom for many here at the Hog for quite a while, even at it's original $400+ price point. A $179 refurb looks pretty attractive. Nice first shots...

If those shots are straight out of the camera, they are great (wish you had clicked "[] (store original)" so we could see a larger file). I'm very tempted to buy the SX50 but I've had bad experiences with electronic viewfinders. Anyone care to comment on the one in the SX50?

Actually I couldn't agree more. The electronic viewfinder was the reason I just sold my SX50, just couldn't bring myself to choose to use it versus my DSLR, because of the viewfinder.

I will say this what I've seen in the electronic viewfinder is nothing like what I've seen on the computer screen or printed! Very deceiving, in my opinion that is the electronic view finder is negative of the camera. Otherwise very happy with mine especially when I don't want to lug the DSLR with 3 different lenses.

Here are a couple you can enlarge. These two were taken from the same spot. Just zoomed in.
