I use an old silk tie (sans gravy stains).

Recently (today) I came across an instructional video on the very best way to clean your lens:

I have to wonder who might take this seriously?
Looks like something my warped mind would come up with.
LOL!

I just got a box of 200 Zeiss wipes at Sams Club, I thought the price was pretty good and they do a great job on cleaning the lens.

Scotch on the breath seems to cut through all kinds of contaminants on the lens.Actually, I use the LensPen and love it. It has a soft brush on one end and a polishing pad with cleaner on the other. Made specifically for camera lenses and available on Amazon.com. It has a clip so you can carry it easily in your shirt pocket.

Just remember that photo lens cleaning tissues (like the Zeiss) are best, in part, because they are designed not to affect the lens coating.

nothing like condensed C2H5OH ......

I still prefer a micro-fiber cloth and my breath - if the blower or brush fails.

On the other hand, maybe someone knows the chemical contents of the average person's breath and knows a reason it shouldn't be used? Is it affected by garlic and onions?

A 12 pack on the breath works also and makes you more creative.

This applies to Costco as well. I purchased an item at Costco a couple times when they were at the bakery. The next couple times they were near the pharmacy on the opposite side of the store. Then they were back at the bakery. The last time I was there they were back near the pharmacy. Go figure.

At Walmart you never now where they put things. One time my daughter was loking for a book to keep information in and she found it in the Auto Dept. not in the stationary Dept.

I was at Natcam '81. Had to look at my diploma to remember. The year was a little of a blur but the most fun I ever had. Lot's of good bars in Denver and Boulder. Too many!

Zeiss is one of the oldest and most respected brands in all of photography. Why would you shy away from them? Even if they don't specifically MAKE the damn things, I have a feeling they don't allow just any old schmuck to make crap and put "Zeiss" on the box.

I found this a Walmart a while back. I was reluctant to use it on a camera lens since it came from Walmart. However, my first SLR was an Exacta VXIIA with a Carl Zeiss Biotar lens. Zeiss lenses had a very good reputation and the Biotar took excellent photos. So I figured the cleaning tissues must be OK if they are Zeiss.
