I only ship to the USA because of some problems that arose in the past. Also, it takes a lot of time at the P.O.
I would relist and give bad feed back, he had all the necessary information when he bid or he should not have bid.

I sell a lot of gear on ebay and shipping international goes through the Global Shipping center in Kentucky. It is completely safe and it is a US address. They handle it from there. Once the money has cleared paypal and is in your account you will be fine. The global shipping center is run by ebay/paypal so the $2000 paypal insurance is valid.

Here's what I would do. Open the box and take the picture of the shutter count and send it to him. Stand by your shipping to USA only. I would hope that he doesn't pay. You are selling a nice item and there are lots of good customers on eBay. Wish you the best.

Ebay provides the opportunity for asking questions before bidding. I don't think this guy is a serious bidder. I had an experience where the winning bidder (in another country) provided bogus information pretending he had a PayPal account. (He copied and pasted to make it look real except for the poor resolution of the copies). I re-listed only to have the winner not follow through with payment after he won the bid. I wound up waiting over a month before I could sell the camera. While it may be rare for problems to occur on ebay, I had two on the same item.

[This is going to drag out for days, but I've never had an experience quite like this on ebay - after 463 transactions. On two occasions, people did not pay, so I had to relist or sell to the next bidder in line.[/quote]

When you get that itchy feeling in the back of your neck that something isn't quite right, go with your gut and back off. Every time I haven't listened to that inner voice telling me to be wary, I've ended up on the wrong end of the stick. Whenever my Dad had a prospective customer that gave him that feeling, he would not take the contract and would take himself off to the golf course instead. There's always another bus at the bus stop, so I would pass this one up if I were you.

I've had some bad experiences with international sales on ebay. Some guy in Poland gave me a bad feedback. Why? Because I wouldn't falsify the value of the items so he wouldn't have to pay a lot for customs. I hope he chokes on his kielbasa. Then an item sent to Australia supposedly didn't get there. And that's from a CIVILIZED country.

Yes, I specify USA only. I don't know where this buyer is, but he says he has USA address I could use.
Yes, I did list the shutter count.
No, they do not have to pay. They are obligated to pay, but no one from ebay is going to threaten the buyer with a gun.

You can specify not to sell to buyers with poor ratings over a specified period of time.
Since you specifically said US only, you don't have to sell it to them if you have to ship to Czech Republic.
Finally, TRadio said that you can give the buyer negative feedback. I don't think you can do that anymore. Only sellers can get feedback. If you try to write something negative in your "positive" feedback eBay will send you a note.
If I were you, I'd contact the powers that be at eBay, tell them what's happen, and get them to cancel the sale. Looks better for you, too.

The last time I bought on eBay the seller scammed me by sending damaged goods. I reported to eBay & Paypal and both ignored. Then the seller reported me negatively. My attempt to reply to that negative report was disallowed.

My record at ebay is about like yours. I recently had a "shaky" deal going and contacted ebay with the facts. They took care of it the same day totally in my favor.

I sold my D610 on ebay, sort of. When I contacted the winner, he said that he thought he was outbid. His name was at the top of the list, but he still wasn't sure. I'm working for the next eight days, so it's hard for me to deal with this in a timely manner. He finally accepted that he was the winner, but he wants me to take a picture to verify the shutter count. The camera is packed neatly in the Nikon box, inside another box, and inside the mailing box. I'm not unpacking everything. So, he would like me to send him the last picture I took. I'll have to find that tonight when I get home from work. He also wants to know if I can send it to the Czech Republic!

You don't have to deal with that. Turn it over to ebay and let them handle it. You might tell the buyer what you are going to do, that might stimulate him in to doing the right thing. :) :)

I began using eBay before PP existed.. I purchased a camera from a fellow in NY. This was a film camera and I paid $400 for it. I ran to the PO and sent a MO. The next day I received an email stating I had been taken. This kid purchased a $1400 video camera off of the same guy. He told me the fellow was selling, and then not shipping. I ran to the PO and tried to get get my funds back. I had to wait 30 days before any paperwork could be filled out. I thought I had lost my money for sure. Close to three months later I received a check from the PO for the $400. I really haven't lost any money that I recall. I don't sell because of the eBay as well as PP fees.
Then there is just the mess of listing etc. I buy, but don't sell.

i too have had problems in the past. Mostly to East European countries.
Now I specifically put in the description that I will ship to the continental US ONLY.
Ebay charges an obscene amount to send it to their shipping outlet. I have had complaints from previous customers.
Another reason I only ship to the US only.

I have purchased from China and never really had a problem.
As I said I gave up selling along time ago. Do you sell primarily photos?

Hi Jerry, can I ask why you are selling your D610. Thanks.

Yes, it is an annoyance, but it also adds some excitement to my dull life. I still have the camera, and I'll hold onto it until someone pays me for it. I've never lost a cent on ebay.

Hi Jerry. First of all, if you do agree to sell, be sure that you only ship it to the buyer's PayPal registered address. You'll lose any protection from PayPal if you don't. There are overseas sellers that have US shipping addresses, but that doesn't sound like your situation. I've shipped a wide variety of cameras and hifi gear worldwide with no problems. Secondly, eBay lets you put together your own list of countries you won't ship to. If you have that in place, then their bids won't go through. I assembled my list from an online insurance company called U-PIC. If they won't insure a parcel going to Croatia, for example, then I don't ship there. Lastly (!) another reason for caution is that your seller might complain about some unknown or trivial issue and he'll ask you to send him an adjustment for the "repair or adjustment" that he claims the item needs. The hassle of time and money lost for this situation isn't worth the hassle. Good luck!
