Well, I like to see that my subject's eyes are open when I make a portrait! I worked for three huge school portrait companies. The dSLR was considered a highly inferior solution for portrait photography, but a necessary evil to get us off the expensive, addictive drug that we called film.

Lifetouch even builds their own super secret X1 camera to get around it. It is both mirrorless and shutter-less.

I used to complain every time I blinked my eyes, but eventually got used to it!

I like the fact we have so many choices for both DSLR and MILC cameras. Conversations and opinions seem to gaining traction this past year both for and against. I suspect as the result of the Sony A7 line for larger sensor fans and the 4/3 system which continues to improve. I suspect Canon will continue to lag behind for some time, but I hope not.

Canon and Nikon continue to build new 'Professional' classed cameras whereas Sony and others have started to ignore the rigid classification of their kit. Prices may make them 'in the order of' nevertheless.

Just seems a pity that the the cameras with the greater specifications are getting smaller than the lenses they need to perform!

Something to be said about a Rolls Royce at a wedding and a cameraman with a compact simply won't cut it. Full Frame big cameras will be here for a while yet.

If there was a more profitable market, I'm sure they would be more active but I doubt they will listen to the minority that believe they are behind.

Just buy a Sony and move on ;)

Sony has great Mirrorless bodies. The problem I have with Sony in this area is the lack of meaningful lenses. I just purchased Fujifilm's X-T1. What an awesome camera with lots of lenses to choose from!

There's a lot of good press for the Sony A7s and Lumix GH4. Each has significant benefits for certain kinds of work. The A7s is rather incredible in low light, while the GH4 is a video champ in its price category.

I'm one of those skeptics who think Canon and Nikon are too late to the party, don't want to go to the party, COULD crash the party if they wanted to, but won't, because they, like Kodak a decade ago, don't understand what is happening.

Wow! That's pretty cool. The GH4 is pretty popular with independent film makers and industrial video and commercial producers. The stills it produces are great, too, on par with the best of the APS-C breed.

Just adding that Sony has also a new firmware update for the 7 series and the a6000. From a quick look, it appears to deal with newer model lenses.
