Have you found NIX Silver Efex to be the best B&W converter?
To answer you question Kingmapix, "Yes." It may be that I have spent many hours using this product as opposed to the same experience with On1's Perfect B&W, but I actually did a head-to-head comparison one time and found that I got much better results from Silver Efex. I'm now a devoted user.

Thanks Frank. It definitely adds a "dramatic flair" to flowers.

Thanks much steve. It may be a long tutorial .... there are several steps along the way.

You could make a video, or a series, and post it on You Tube. Then link it here. Many would come if you build it. Sign me up too!

At this point, I probably have to admit to being a dinosaur gdoro ..... I'm not proficient at video, and right now I don't have an overriding urge to learn it. The written tutorial is the best I can do, but it will be copiously illustrated with examples.

For a long time now I have been labeling photos like the one below as "Low Key". While they display some of the elements of Low Key photography, they were not produced that way, with careful manipulation of light and shadow. Most of my "Low Key" photos were shot in full daylight then converted to monochrome with NIK Silver Efex. My newest "series" of photos, the "HCM Series" will more accurately reflect the production process. Here, then, is the first entry in the "HCM Series - Bread and Butter Daffodils"

Thanks Pixelmaster. Someone had suggested I create my own video to post, not that I was in search of ideas of how to use NIX Silver Efex. I'm pretty proficient with it already.

Thanks for the compliment Indrajeet. I keep coming back to black and white processing from time to time - it's almost as if I "see" in tones rather than hues.

Thanks Jim. I suspect there will be many more in this style in the months to come. I hope they all turn out as well as this one did.
