Just a quick question... I have had the new Nikon 300mm f4 on order since Jan 31st. Just checked again today and it is still on backorder with no anticipated date of arrival. Anyone have any insider scoop on where these lenses are?

The Pentagon released an infrared surveillance photo that there may be a catch of a dozen of the lenses in a cave in Montana!!
They did disclose that it was hard to tell if they were lenses or hand grenades!!

If you're talking about the new 300mm f/4E PF ED VR, I'd love to hear your opinion of it once you get it.

I ordered mine from Amazon the minute I heard of it, and have had it for over a month.

Can't give you a detailed review, other than it's very sharp, but the great thing is the small size and light weight. It is close in size and weight to the 16-35 f/4, maybe an inch longer, same diameter, close in weight.

Thanks Moonhawk. That lens caught my eye. My birthday is in August, so if I don't hear anything negative....I'll be saving my pennies.

Amazon Prime says ship in 2-5 weeks, so you are probably still in window of margin.
