CatMarley, do you use the Fuji 27mm pancake lens much? Seems like that would be one to leave on the XT1 most of the time and the price is right. What is your take on this lens?

I don't have the pancake, but it is the next one I intend to get. I think it would be the one I would take to Europe with me for street scenes and countryside.

I held it in a camera store when I was on the road a few weeks ago. It's a heavy one, for a Fuji.

I don't use this camera (I use Olympus OMDs) but du Chemin is one of my favorite photographers/photography writers and this caught my eye.

Don't be afraid of the current generation of EVF's, they are great.

That is because it is made of metal, not a lot of plastic parts like most DSLRs. I have fairly large hands for a woman, but DSLRs feel big and bulbous in my hands, The Fuji seems to "fit". The size is like my old Nikon FM which I think was the nicest camera Nikon ever made. It even took pictures without a battery, and it was completely manual, though very easy to use. I still have it, my first Nikon baby!

Biggest thing I miss from my Digital Nikons is the 4-selector function buttons. They're very small on the Fuji, and not nearly as ergonomic and smooth as on a Nikon. But I guess if they were as big as on the Nikon, the Fuji wouldn't be that small, light little unit (which I'm learning to love). Can't have my cake and eat it too, huh, Cat?

I predict that the next iteration of Fuji cameras will have 4 way buttons that are a bit more functional, because Fuji engineers are listening to the consumers and that is a fairly constant lament!

When I first got the X-T1, I went right past lament headed straight to whining. I'm better now.

Some guy in Europe made a fix for the buttons - sort of stick-on prostheses. I saw it on another XT forum. Forget where. Probably can google it up somehow.

Might be difficult to sell after that. I'll just wait for the next generation.

Yes, I put down the bucks! Shot Nikon for years and switched to Olympus, and about 10 Oly lenses. Always something missing, touch screen "pretty" but not very useful, but found the dials good.
Now I have the Fuji XT1. Love it. Seems as though more life in Landscapes, flowers, portraits, etc. without processing, except what camera does! Yes, there's a fair number of buttons, 6 function, Q button for stored programs etc. Focus Assist is invaluable. A much simpler Menu than on Olympus.
Somehow it all seems much simpler and cleaner. Build quality is great.
Of course, have not sold the Olympus yet, but so far, much prefer the Fuji.
