I agree with the okra answer as I have picked many an okra in my time and know how they look when dried up.

Those of us inspired by Karl Blossfeldt would not worry about what it is, we would admire the structure and form. KB believed nothing should detract from the subject and for sure Bob you have captured a beautiful image of a beautiful natural form. Check out his work from the early 20th century; he wasn't even a photographer by profession.

Bob Yankle, that looks very much like the tall non-spineless version on Okra. Awesome picture, They were not picked, so planter may have moved on awhile back. The seed pods are well preserved. They usually crack open like cotton plants when the watering is withheld, It appears to have skipped that phase..All in all the seeds are good to grow, if one is so inclined to venture.. Beautiful shot...Thanks for the walk down memory lane.❇

Thanks eman. I googled it and saw several images that showed the pods. Though not dried out, they convinced me Corolyn identified the plant correctly.

Thanks jimdix. I appreciate the philosophy. And to be truthful, I set out to create a work of art, not catalog a vegetable.

Thank you morningglory. I can honestly say that I did not set out to photograph Okra, per sé, but recognize an intriguing subject regardless of its taxonomy.

I could find no mythological reference for a creature with the head and wings of an Eagle and the body of a Serpent. Furthermore, I don't know from what plant this "dried flower" arrangement is made as it's not really a dried flower, but the remains of a row of plants planted behind a church. I suspect when it grows new flowers I may be able to identify the species.

But I do know it looked cool.

I agree Bob.Very cool indeed.

Thanks bnewmk. This is the kind of image that sets people's imaginations running wild, and can be interpreted in oh, so many different ways.

Thanks Jim. I'm amazed at the things that present themselves to my camera lens, things I would ordinarily pass by if I weren't out looking for things to photograph.
