I was planning on upgrading from my D5200 with 18-200mm VR11 lens to the D750 with 24-120mm. However, I was waiting for the announcement of the D7200. Now that it is announced, I have a dilemma.

I thought I wanted move up to FX with higher ISO, larger sensor, and more control. I really do use the flip LCD on my D5200, that is similar on the D750. If the D7200 had the same tilt screen as the D750 I would most likely get the D7200 with it's even higher ISO, larger buffer, and capability with my existing 18-200mm and 35mm DX lens. I could even add a Nikon 10-24mm for 800.00 and still be 1200.00 less than the D750 with 24-120mm. However, will I be disappointed to not move up to FX?

Jeep for Larry, I do the same as you do - just a hobbyist but I am upgrading from my Nikon D7000 to the D750. Due to pick it up this Saturday. Based on what Ken Rockwell wrote in his website, I opted for the FX 28-300mm over the 24-120mm. I am told the 28-300 is a very good lens and is about $200 less expensive than the 24-120 f/4. Also, I would not have to keep changing lenses since the 28-300 will give me all the range I need. -FiddleMaker

What is your definition of a "Few" extra bucks? The D7200 will continue the super performance of the D7100. Non Pros will never find a need for more camera.

My humble 2 cents worth.

Get both! You'll satisfy your need/desire for FF plus have an adequate backup.

Not to muddy the situation, there is always the D610, full frame, and the price has dropped considerably.

Since you're shopping, I would go for the D750. As nice as the D7200 is, the D750 is even nicer, and it's full frame. As I posted a couple of days ago, leaving that tilting monitor off the D7200 will lead people to the more expensive D750.

Ha, regardless of which I get, my D5200 will be the backup. There is a budget limit/wife expectations.

I was in a similar situation this Christmas. I got my Dad a D7200 as a present. Later I bought a D750 for myself, coming from a D5000. The ISO alone makes the choice between a 7200 and a 750 clear. The low light shooting on the D750 will blow your mind. And, as stated before, your lenses will still work with the D750. Your wide angle lens will actually work properly with the full framer. If money is not an issue definitely take the D750.

We'll help you up should you stumble.....
But then we'll push you towards the D750 again.
The best of both worlds, Larry. Great cropped, and the latest of the full frames.
Best wishes as you slide down into the Vortex of G.A.S.

The reported standard ISO of 25600 on the D7200 was one of the draws to it over the D750 as Nikon tends to set the standard hi ISO as where the noise starts to be unacceptable, so 12800 should be pretty good. However, I know the D750 FX is great also.

Good luck with your choice. The D750 sounds like your choice and I am pretty sure if you do not purchase it, you will always wish you had, as others have said. It has most of the features you want. How important is the higher end ISO on the D7200? You could rent each one and see for yourself what you really like before buying either. Tell us what you finally decide.
