Salt doesn't work once you get below -20 or so. One thought- I'll bet the bank isn't open to process your payment. In a "State of Emergency" usually late fees are suspended?

She called the bank and they allowed her to pay over the phone. It's been in the 20's here and the rock salt I threw out yesterday just sits there. Must be cheap stuff. Went to the store to get more and they are sold out.

I feel your pain. Looks like you had more ice than we did in Knoxville. Did you get snow today? We got about 1& 1/2 inches to top the ice.

That's more than we got. I'd say about 1/2" of snow here. All the ice is still here though. I did get out to the store finally. Almost a wasted trip. Went to Kroger and all the good stuff is sold out. No bread, no milk, no chicken...I was amazed how much stuff was gone. The cashier said they are still waiting for the delivery truck to show up. Plus, few showed up at work to stock the shelves. Stay safe my eastern friend.

Great time for some family activities in a warm, safe home. Spring will be here soon.

Sure is...we have lots of children (cats) that we play with which helps to pass the time. Spring can't get here soon enough for many of us. On the good side...the first day of Spring is just 30 days away.

When I was growing up in Tennessee a long time ago(late '50s, '60s, we had way more snow than we have now. I also remember one winter in the early '60s, when I was at TTU, our water froze up for days. I had to go to my friend's home in Cookeville in order to take a shower. Also remember one time I drove to school over a ice covered road, a distance of around 12 miles. So it hasn't always been mild here in the winter.

Wow, now that's dealing with some bad winter weather. Yeah, I remember big snows in Missouri too when I was a kid. Snow drifts as big as I was. It'll all be over soon, I saw 50's coming next week.

Actually it is more dangerous to drive on ice (more slippery) when the temperature is closer to the freezing mark than when it is, say 0 degrees out. So that is another reason it gets so dangerous for southern states than ones that get very cold to drive in those conditions, other than the strictly inexperience of driving on it.

It might look that way to someone in balmy Arizona but here in Iowa when we get that kind of ice, I can tell you it don't matter what the temperature is - don't try to walk or drive on it.

Awe, the joy of Winter. It looks really pretty, but I can do without the cold. Yes, it is supposed to get bitterly cold tonight, so make sure your ready. And Good Luck!

We got lucky in Chattanooga and just got a little snow to go along with the cold but they are saying it will be 5 in the morning so we'll be running the water to keep the pipes from freezing. Sure ready for spring!! Stay warm.

Yes, we get to see Chattanooga Weather here briefly on the radar sweep. 5 degrees is pretty darn cold. I really love coming to your city. Lots of fun stuff to do, see and photograph...a great little city.

69 today in Prescott, AZ and we seldom get in the 90's in the summer. Four mild seasons. Love it.
