Well this Sucks...the deep freeze has made it to the South. Monday night we had freezing rain all night. No one here can drive on this crap. Local News reported over 150 wrecks. At one point, all 4 Interstates were closed due to either jack knifed trucks or pile ups. Sadly theres been 4 fatalities. The city has little snow removal equipment, so our street will not get plowed at all. This is nothing compared to the poor folks in the New England region I know. But this Ice is slick as snot...maybe slicker. What's really sad is our normal high this time of year is 52, we're not expected to rise above freezing for the next 2-3 days.
Freezing rain and ice-covered roads can not be navigated, regardless of which state you live in :| So damaging too. Stay safe, James.
We got hit this time as well in North Carolina, although being in the foothills in the norther part of the state ours was mostly snow. We did get sleet on top of it last night. I am not going anywhere today. Stay safe and warm until it melts.

Ice is treacherous. My daughter has similar conditions in NC. Stay safe!
Sorry to hear it James, stay safe.
Actually it is more dangerous to drive on ice (more slippery) when the temperature is closer to the freezing mark than when it is, say 0 degrees out. So that is another reason it gets so dangerous for southern states than ones that get very cold to drive in those conditions, other than the strictly inexperience of driving on it.
That really stinks especially when you're not used to this!!
The frozen tundra has found it's way to you James, just don't plan on leaving your house with all that ice!!
Stay safe and warm!

I'd rather walk on snow than ice.
Thanks for all your advise everyone. I got the PT Cruiser thawed out and all the ice off the windows. We don't have a ice scraper, so improvized and used a metal spatula. My wife wanted to go pay some bills...but alas she fell down on the ice. She's OK, her pride was hurt more than anything. As I was helping her up...I heard this mumbling noise. Something about moving to Florida. Guess, I'll play with old photos to pass the time.
That looks very chilly James.Great shots.

Yep, rub it in:). I've lived there...hated the Summers though, but the rest of the year was pleasant.

Our house payment is due today, my wife insisted we go to the bank, it's not far...but after she fell down, she decided late fee's aren't so bad afterall.

There have been a few down trees, nothing in our neighborhood. Last time I checked, 3,600 were without power in North Nashville. Our pine tree in the back yard has limbs bent to the ground but none have snapped yet.

Yes, the whole region seems to have gotten some form of winter weather. Saw that folks about 35 miles north in Kentucky got 12" of snow. They're more accustomed to it so are handling it much better than we are.
