Last year, using an Epspon V300 color scanner, I scanned over 4000 of my 35mm slides (4 per scan). I scanned them to my FREE Google PICASA photo software program, where I edited them to my satisfaction. Then I loaded them all onto CDs. Since I am retired, I was able to complete this job in two weeks. I paid $100 for the scanner, resulting in a cost per slide of one quarter of a cent . When I finished, I sold the scanner for $50. If you go to Epson's website, you can click on a "tour" of the V 300's features that also includes scanings color 35mm negatives.
