Set with negative space (too much of it for some folks' liking)

But I do this every time there's fog.

Thanks to Graham for ideas on editing the last one.

Love these!!! Composition is great. Colors are just right.

Being a very positive person I struggle with anything at all negative, particularly space. I see see the negative space in this image as positively negative ;)

In the spirit of Graham's entiment re : negative space, it can often provide, in a positive manner, a plenitude of cropping options!

It appears as a positive frame-up to me.

I love that you posted this. Thank you for the visual options. Perhaps another thread will take us to the world of cropping options - when, why where.

Not a typical moon shot. I wouldn't want my moon to have it's arms at its sides!

You're welcome, wowbmw,
And remember, a horizontal flip doubles your options!

Here I'm posting a very clean and simple example of a GRAPIC composition.
Graphic can be a lot of things, but reduced to it's simplest form it is usually a simple but strong image, such as a bullet caught in mid-flight or a drop of water splashing or a shadow.
This shot contains several elements but the representation is for that of a simple graphic.
If you are not familiar with the terms, this is what this discussion is supposed to promote....understanding, so that others can start to use these concepts in their photography.
This is where all those here with the experience, especially pros can jump in and rescue me and elevate the discussion!!
Come one, come all.

Edie, this is a beautfiul photo. You framed it so well. I think this would be a great photo to use in a discussion about the difference between framing and composition.

I love this image, Dave. I love the way the light is falling, I love how tiny that boat is in the great big sea ... but .. I would lose the sky completely.

Thanks very much. I think I understand what you mean by framing - the black that I painted around the subject. What is the juxtaposition between framing and composition? I have seen paintings and photos in which the artist extends the picture past the frame.
