These are Bar-tailed Godwits. They hold the world record for the longest non-stop migratory flight. They breed in Alaska, & then fly over 7,000 miles (11,700 klms) non-stop to a small number of places in Australia, including Yamba, where I shot these yesterday. This is a rare sighting & I was just plain lucky to be in the right place at the right time. Please download for better detail.
