D7100/Tamron 150-600mm.

These are Bar-tailed Godwits. They hold the world record for the longest non-stop migratory flight. They breed in Alaska, & then fly over 7,000 miles (11,700 klms) non-stop to a small number of places in Australia, including Yamba, where I shot these yesterday. This is a rare sighting & I was just plain lucky to be in the right place at the right time. Please download for better detail.

Unbelievable. I've been following bird life for over fifty years and hardly a day goes by when I don't learn something new. Thanks to you and Donna for sending this.

Right place, right time and the right person behind the camera. Excellent job of documenting these long distant flyers.
