Personally I wish Auto mode would have never happened. It makes things too easy and some folks never learn the basics and how to develop one's skills.
I was just watching a video about a Leica camera...9000.00 and it had NOTHING on it...just a knob for ss, a knob for ISO...and the lens had the aperture.
It was such a work of art...when i found what it cost I almost cried.
I hate all the auto crap on my camera...I wish it only had the three controls.

Many of those people, I have found out, do not post any photos of their own and have the unmitigated gall to putdown and harangue those who do. So if they disappear --- good riddance.
So true! I just received a pm from a fellow member offering me C&C on my avatar .... according to this person it's very disconcerting. They also didn't seem to realize that my avatar is of my 8 year old daughter hamming it up for the camera, they thought it was ME! lmao
This person has NEVER posted a sample of their work and when I looked at their listed website there was no portrait photography to speak of (or any photography for that matter). Their feedback has been filed in the trash where it belongs.
Some like to tear people down to make themselves feel better, others want to help people grow and find themselves as a photographer. The trick is to find out which is which.

I on the other hand love your avator, makes me laugh every time I see it. Excellent choice I think.
Never gave it any thought about who it was, doesn't matter really, it catches ones eye and it's easy to remember, that's what it's meant to do.

I know exactly what you mean. I keep a 'Jerk List' and when they post something my red flags go up. If I even think they are going to get nasty, I'm gone. But 99.9 want to help. I've noticed that some are blunt when they critique but not nasty or abusive.
Hang in there, post and wear your flack helmet, (I thought that was funny)

George knows where there is a "Jerk Store"

I wonder how many people will know what this is referring to? Certainly not one of his better moments. It brought a smile to my face remembering the scene.

I'm a big Seinfeld fan, never get tired of them.
Can't you tell everyone is just mostly suffering from cabin fever and if they don't expire from it, they'll grow and become better photographers? If not, their loss. There have been a couple of times that my comments got trashed, as in not posted, because I could not find a kinder way to say something harsh, so choose not to say it at all, but it makes me have to polish up the word skills. Why can't some of you folks out there just accept that everyone isn't as proper as you, as well educated, as stupid, as eager to learn, as uncoordinated as you.....this world is FULL of INDIVIDUALS of which you are one. If we were all the same this would be one dull old world and this forum wouldn't be nearly as educational and fun. Shucks, I've learned that some folks are worse than me....and now I think a little more highly of myself, but that still doesn't make me better than you, huh?
Aw Swan Sweetie! I hold you in the highest regard!!!

Well, thank you, sir.........I think???? :)
Well Spoken[/quote]
I do try hard to be nice, but when you can't see the body language and the facial expressions, sometimes it's easy to take things harder then they were intended and suffer more than necessary. Besides, I think I might like to meet that one person in the world that has never gotten up on the wrong side of the bed or the one that's never had a bad day. And take any post, this one for instance.....read it with an angry attitude, then come back tomorrow and read it with a good will attitude. Depending on the voice inside one's head, we can all be angels or jerks....but someone griping about manners or lack of is not going to change anything except the way we see them, right? It's not going to make me or you or the next guy suddenly be inundated with Emily Post Manners, is it? If it did, we could all go smack a few politicians or journalists and tell them to have better manners and don't do that anymore. Won't work though. Real life is just that....real, not that make believe world I carry around in my head.
