OMG! Those are amazing. What kind of camera and settings did you use? Did you have a tripod?

Two mature eagles took over an Osprey nest from last year and had 2 eglets. The osprey returned early and was quite disturbed over finding his nest had been taken over.
The following are some of the action that took place while I was watching.
The osprey at first dove on the nest when only the eglets were present.
Then mom arrived and he continued to dive on her also.
After a lot of screaming, dad came to the rescue, only to find the osprey was not afraid of any of them.
This went on for 30 minutes before the osprey finally gave up.
I was fortunate to be there and get these shots and many more. It was once in a lifetime for me.

Wonderful, beautiful shots!
Thanks everyone for looking. Hope everyone enjoys. I know I did.
The camera, lens and settings were:
Nikon D7000
Sigma 150- 500 mm
Settings were f8, 1/2000 sec, ISO on auto
gotta love that Sigma...
All shots were hand held at 100 yards
Really great shoots. I know how hard it is to shoots like this.

Great captors and great exposures. In the right place at the right time!! OK, so who got the nest
The four eagles are the residents. the osprey went about a quarter mile and he and his mate are presently building a nest.
I really love this shot!!! But all of them are awesome...I bet you are still smiling!

I can't even get a good eagle in flight shot! Those are wonderful! These pictures are the kind I dream about capturing!
Sat in an eagle nesting area for 6 hours the other day! Saw them everywhere, but not once were they within shooting distance. Oh not quite true, watched one coming in close, got a ok shot as he approached, at the last moment he made a quick turn to the east, behind the tallest trees in the reserve,& sat directly behind the main branch of the tree.
I couldn't even walk to a different spot as he was across the river. Very frustrating. Thanks for posting, even though I am frustrated, they motivated me to keep at it!
