Gorgeous shots; it is hard to choose between the rich reds of the sky in #3 and the soft, subtile colors in #4.

Thank you very much, #3 is on 280 near Page Mill road in Palo Alto. # 4 on top of 82 from 280 to Half Moon Bay.

According to the EXIF, these pictures were taken by some kind of Leica. Does it produce a RAW file or does it provide some way of turning off the WB logic? I ask because I'm wondering how you prevented the WB logic from ruining the rich sunrise colors.

The camera I use is Panasonic Lumix made for Leica it has a Leica lens as most Panasonics Have , I have a another Panasonic p&s converted to IR and it also has a Leica lens. All pictures were made in P mode with automatic white balance, I am not very technical I don't even know if the camera shots raw, even with my digital slr I never used raw.

I drive those roads often, but never at sunrise., so I'll just have to enjoy your photographs.

Thank you very much for your gracious comment Linda. On # 3 I had to stop on the freeway with my emergency flasher on, couldn't miss that shot. You told my some time ago that you remembered Treasure Island, I was there last evening we had a fantastic sunset over the SF skyline, me and 50 other photographers.

 to the Treasure Island sunset; not so sure about pulling over on the freeway. Heard there can be a big fine :|

I, too am a believer in "always have a P&S handy." Mine has served me well but you really hit the jackpot.

Thank you very much. I learned my lesson many years ago driving over the Golden Gate bridge with fresh snow on the cables, had a camera but no film. I never happened since.

The camera used is actually a Leica D lux which is made by Panasonic it's the same camera as the Panasonic only it has the red Leica dot, I pay about $100 more as for a Panasonic, performing wise there is no difference however when you want to sell it the Leica dot keeps the selling price up.
