The problem if it is one is it came with over 45000 actuation's on the shutter I am worried that is to many what do you folks think I have 14 days to send it back. What would you do?.
Even though it may be rated to 300,000 actuations, to be frank 45,000 is still a fair amount of use. If the price was low enough then perhaps its worth it. How much did you save over buying it new? Most folks I know who buy Canon refurbs of bodies like the 5DIII from Canon or B&H report low actuations with 15K being on the high end.

I paid $1379. so it was a very good price, and even if the shutter fails the cost to replace is not that bad. I have never heard of one to fail but I am sure some have.

I've bought used Nikons with between 300 and 1,500 shots, but the D800 is rated for a high count. Of course, the shutter isn't the only part of the camera. Having taken 45,000 shots means it has gotten a lot of use, but it is a top-level camera, and it's tough.
What would I do? I'd try to find one with fewer actuations. Before I bid on ebay, I get the shutter count.

I hope you enjoy your D800 as much as I do mine! Have fun!

Just enjoy your "new camera" and take lots of great shots. You got a great price!
Honestly it depends on what you payed for your D800
The trade in and resale price of the D800's how reduced
faster then any Nikon I have owned. A 3k camera is on ebay for $1500 on average. Enjoy the camera and move on.
Good luck

Depends on price. If it's a 100,000 rated shutter actuation, the camera is approaching it's theoretical half-life. To a casual user, it won't mean much, beyond that it could be a concern in the future.

That is sadly true. I had mine on ebay and CL for $1800 with 3900 clicks with a 3rd party grip and no luck I was going to buy a DF but decided not to give the D800 away for such a low price.

Maybe that's because they did not like them and traded them in on Nikons. lol.

Interesting reading Just sold my D700 and am going to buy a Nikon refurbished D800e from B&H. I was thinking that would be the safest way to get a used camera vs. internet sale. Any thoughts?

Nikon D 800 Frame
Kevlar / carbon fiber composite shutter with 200,000 exposure durability.
You have a long long way to go.

You can send it to me and I'll check it out and then tell you what I think! :D
My Fujifilm S5 Pro, built on the Nikon D200 body (Fuji/Nikon collaberation) had 254,000 shutter count when I sold it two years ago. The fellow I sold it to is still using it very regularly.
45K shutter count... ???? nothing I'd worry about. I've had far more trouble with low mileage pristine cars than ever with high mileage. Sort of feel the same way with shutter count on camera's, at least with high build camera's.
Price is my bigger consideration. Good cosmetics come next. Shutter count last.
And for those concerned... Yes, It IS HOT!!! But thanks to the wonder of reincarnation, I am getting a chance for a do-over. I'm trying harder this time.
