I am going to leave this setup out to play with, but hitting the sack soon because 4:00am rolls around fast these days...
I like this steeper camera angle MUCH better. With a little work thats your ticket. The low angle probably won't work because The objects are too similar in size . . . thats just my opinion. I also like the suggestion of "drinking the wine", that would probably help as well!
How about tipping the glass bowl with the berries in it on its side and have the fruit spilling out onto the table? Get a little "flow" into the scene.

Not being artistically gifted I can't help you with the composition .....but I am distracted with things been cockeyed due to the wide angle lens used ! :-(
The table is to small, or the photo is to busy .

I have been getting some advice for composition lately from a web site and as I am an artist, I will give you my opinion. I would X that plant and fill a small vase with roses. Roses compliment the romance of the composition. Here is a 30 second rough sketch of how I would compose that still life. Hope you get it the way you want it. Sorry the quality is bad. haveing trouble with my scanner. And ignore the extra line in front.
Still life
Its a lovely still life Randy, but as you have asked--- the only thing I would change would be to move the whole scene to the left so as to allow more room for the flower stem just touching the edge of the picture? I feel it may give a little more balance.

Please critique and would also love to hear how you would arrange these items..
This is straight from the camera without any editing which is unusual for me..
I think my Wife likes that fact I am attempting this because I am washing the dust of a few things from on top of the kitchen cabinets.. :)

I like the last shot the lighting and angle, now try with 1-3 items the add 1 at a time. This setup has endless possibilities .
You've got an interesting assortment of objects. Use them to tell stories. And do something with that damned candy bowl! It's crooked! Maybe knock it over, or at least turn it so it doesn't look so out-of-level.
You've already gotten lots of great input. But, going back to the starting point, one aspect I didn't see mentioned is that the lavender stems were pulling the viewer off the page to the right. I found the original staging very interesting and think that just removing the one long stem might have made a big difference in the visual flow.

I think Carolyn hit the nail on the head. I couldn't figure out what was bothering me. It IS the floral arrangement. I'm thinking the same arrangement in a different vase so the stems aren't so sloppy, or a different arrangement all together. My eye keeps going over to the arrangement, where ever it is in the photo...and it is not the nicest item in the photo.
Either that, or consider doing a still life with just 3 items. 3 always seems pleasing.

This version remedies some of my dislikes...but NOT all! The potted plant has an unbalanced growth habit that bothers me. Would like to see a shot with the plant removed completely. Some of the most compelling still life photos (and paintings) I have viewed practice a bit more minimalism. In this version, the angle allows us to identify the fruit, lets the etching on the glass show much better. These are improvements! The old wooden crate is terrific!
Thanks for sharing!

Get rid of the plant and add a table close of some kind.
Instead of filling a vase with roses, how about just one or two blossoms of whatever (shouldn't be too hard this time of year  ). It would be more in keeping with the theme - lovers' snack (in miniature). And if you could find a glass vase (slim and elegant), that would be in keeping with one of the sub-themes (glassware).
Having said that, it is a bit busy, so hows about losing the saucer that the fruit bowl's sitting on.
I think the last perspective's the best so far, but I'd say the camera's a bit too close to the diagonal and a little too high (but not much).
