Definitely good choices, however not for this situation.

Nikon, Canon, Sony and Panasonic all have some very nice cameras that are pocketable and fit all the requirements listed by the OP.

There is one Nikon model (among others) that will accept AA batteries rather than the special ones in most cameras, and are under $130.....

As others here have responded, $130 is not a sufficient budget to obtain all that you want, which explains why I've waited so long for my $1200 Guardsman Red Porsche 911. Pick up any photography magazine, such as Popular Photography, Shutterbug, or Outdoor Photography (to name just a few) and spend time doing a little homework! UHH is not a forum for folks who just want to dip their pinky toe into the stream of this great hobby. Walgreens sells birthday snapshot cameras for under $8, confine yourself to one of those.
As others here have responded, $130 is not a suffi... (show quote)

And you are SO WRONG in your first statement!!

And UHH is NOT a forum for all the conceited people that have money to throw around.....
UHH is SUPPOSED to be a forum for ALL people that enjoy photography!!

I know there are a lot of good p&s cameras on the market. I can only recommend one that I've used. I recently bought this camera from Adorama and I am jumping for joy. Considering the the price, features, and picture quality, I don't think I could have found a better deal in any p&s camera and most owner reviews seem to agree with my thoughts about the Nikon Coolpix L610

How about a little humility rjay? KUnger identified herself as a new user who joined the UHH yesterday, and asked a reasonable question. Everyone has to start somewhere and unlike yourself most don't start with all of the answers and the attitude to go with it. Give her a break.

Why do so many members in this forum seem to think they are the so superior to everyone else? One reply in this thread was what I thought the rudest and most stupid reply I have read online in a long time. This person says the woman starting this thread does not belong in this forum and is just sticking her pinky into this hobby. This member should learn some manners and just stop replying.

I totally agree!! There are a FEW that cannot get rid of their EGOs and ELITIST attitudes and that detracts from the many that are here for TRUE enjoyment of photography and willingness to help others.

Just go to any big box store and grab a camera for under $130. It will more than meet your needs.

Remember: KISS

These guys get all messed up in pixels and lenses and gizmos OH MY!

I have a Nikon P7100. The wife loves it and some times gets better shots than me right now. I am still trying to get a handle on my new camera. A little bit more than you wanted. But it turns out some nice shots. Here is a used one to look at.:)
