Of course! That's why we have over 54,000 members on this forum. :D

I'm not a pro, but an advanced amateur, and my dog (avatar) does not know how to use a camera, yet. But she did once accidentally program in "1 minute" on a kitchen timer.
Fake it 'til you make it!
I did my mirror selfie in 1968 with my Minolta SR-1.

Unfortunately, being a professional photographer has less to do with the quality of the photographer and more to do with his or her marketing ability. All a PROFESSIONAL means is that he or she earns a portion of their income from photography. It doesn't mean that the pictures are good. Just that people are buying their services. This could mean that in some locations, there is no better competition. Or that the "Professional" is better at marketing than the others in the area. I am a professional and I freely admit that while my images are good (some better than others) and I know and understand the technology and science of shooting, I am constantly learning and I see many "amateurs" that come up with some much better photos. The key is that I work hard not only on the photography aspect but also on the marketing/networking aspect of the business.
OK, so I've done all this... When does the cash start rolling in?
You mean that film photography doesn't count any longer. Oh heck I guess I best find that magic Dslr thingy. :-P

I think you are being a little harsh. We all have dreams & we don't need anyone to squelch them.I believe we should do what we enjoy & what gives us purpose. We only go around once in this world, let's enjoy & quit being so critical of others work!😊

Well I was a pro back in the day. Started at the age of 16. Did it for a year and then Uncle Sam gave me a vacation for 7 years. Started it up again and did it for 21 years. At that time the towns around us were very small. I had a good thing going with the schools too. But after Janny wanted to have kids. The area I was in could not support a family. So I did it during the day and farmed at night. Just got to be to much so I had to pick a new way to make money. So I ended up being a carpenter. Now my camera is a hobby.

Oh, c'mon. I'm sick of belly-aching about being a "professional" photographer. If you have talent and love photography, then you are a photographer. If you have no talent and call yourself a photographer you'll soon find out that you're not. Stop whining and shoot great pictures. You should be out there shooting, not sitting here complaining.

Just yesterday I came out of a restaurant in NE and while waiting for my brother, looked at local postings on the outside bulletin board. The one that caught my eye was an 8 1/2 X 11 piece of typing paper with some black and white photos copied to it. Typed across the top was a notification of a, Professional Photographer. The 3 pictures depicted, supposedly the work of a professional were simply snapshots with legs cut off at the ankles, and a shirtless cowboy holding an American flag in front of a tractor. I have honestly seen better photos right here on UHH by 90% of the members. I left wondering how the guy was doing in his business. To my mind a professional anything, doctor, cook, tile cutter or photographer is a professional when they act professional and the quality of their work tells of that quality. I suspect he is off to a bad start.
