Thank you Regis, your shots have been my inspiration to do better, hope
to start getting some more shots soon. mdh

I was lucky in 1/23/14 when I received a good copy of the Tamron 150-600mm lens. However, all the lenses should have had this high quality standard and I'm happy that Tamron is correcting their mistakes to make sure everyone has this lens reach it's peak performance.

Morris, How slow was your AF prior to shipping back? I own the same lens but do not seem to have issues with AF. What was the turn around time? Could you post a before soft focus image(s)?Thanks, Gary

My new 150-600mm lens was a little slow on AF and a little soft at 500-600mm. I sent it back for a firmware update and believe me it made a
lot of difference. mdh

My Tamron is soft at 600mm. How can I tell if the lens has the new firmware update?
Thanks

Stunning images Morris. I just got mine today. After much thought I finally broke away from my belief, to use only Nikkor lenses. Your post just makes me feel better about my decision. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. Perhaps tomorrow. Many thanks for posting.

Cheers!

I had no idea that lenses needed to have firmware updates. How do you know if one is needed.

Thanks, you are most welcome. Regis made a believer out of me on this
lens. You need to look at a lot of the photos posted here on the Hog, there are some very good ones. For the price I don't think we went wrong on this one. mdh

A lot of them don't need it. Some of us did an early pre order and some
of those needed it. It is my understanding that once they got the first
couple of batches shipped they had it resolved before sending any more
out. My pictures were soft at 500 & 600mm and it was slow to acquire
Auto focus at those ranges. After other folks started sending out sharp
photos with this lens I knew I had a problem so I called Tamron Support.
Glad I did. Hope this helps. Also this problem doesn't show up on all
cameras and mine is the Canon 7D. mdh

Call Tamron Support and give them the serial number on yours, if you
think your pictures are soft. It is my understanding from Tamron that this problem only affected the first few that were pre ordered. mdh
