It is easy to insult lawyers, since there are some bad eggs. On the other hand what other profession gives so freely of their time, with no expectation of compensation? When was the last time a plumber or electrician did pro bono work? What other profession taxes itself to pay for other lawyers to police them? What other profession is assessed hundreds of dollars each year to contribute to a fund to compensate clients who have suffered injuries from the few bad eggs in the basket?. Not any other profession that I know!

Do you really think they are "giving freely of their time" ? Could it be that their rates are set to compensate themselves for all that stuff? Which means that anyone hiring them pays for it.

Does anyone know how many lawyer jokes there are?

Not all lawyers work for large moneyed clients. Some are "doc" Welby types just doing their job day to day for the average Joe client. Just as all doctors do not drive Mercedes, many lawyers in small firms drive Chevrolets.

There are only three. The rest are all true.

Doctors, teachers, dentists, etc., and they don't overcharge the ones who can afford them, nor do they take advantage of the naïve. Pass me my one-string violin.

Funny but the money I just paid my real estate attorney is "no joke". But I confess that he is extremely bright and did great work with a complex transaction.
