Bonus use: removing "stuck" filters. Stops a CP from spinning when you're trying to unscrew it.

Think it is time for a trip to Walmart's or the local dollar store to get a sack of lensbands ;)

Have you looked at Lens Band?

Do these work on an older push-pull zoom?

Don't know - never used them... but I would guess that they are not as effective.

Post talks about using a piece of tape to slow down creep...

Jerry the hair scruchie thing I talked about doesn't require anymore attention with it than without it,except it keeps your lens from creeping down on you.

The scrunchie is what I use. It's not perfect, but it does make a big difference.

Use lots of white rubber bands, or one bright red one.

I have a zoom lens, but it seems that when i have the lens pointing straight down or straight up, the lens creeps along the direction gravity is pulling it. the lens lock switch is only useful when the zoom is all the way shortened.

What can i do to prevent the creep but not resort to taping it (since I would be adding/removing tape for each shot).

thanks

How about identifying the lens, so no one else here will waste their money on one?

This works for me:

If you have a camera sling and a large enough coat or jacket pocket with a zipper, just put on the sling with camera and lens attached and shove the lens barrel into your pocket, zip pocket around lens barrel and problem is cured, no lens creep, minimal camera flop.

Camera and lens are at the ready...... like quick draw mcgraw.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Yepper!!!

I use these as well...

I carry a bag of them in my gadget bag.

Also my friend, Dewitt Jones, sent to me six of his "Celebrate What's Right With The World" tan bracelets. I gave way all but two. Those are on my two lenses that have the "Creeps". The Canon 24 - 105 was the first to have this problem. My "Camera Guru" told me that there was nothing to do about it except the "rubber band trick".

The bracelets would the best - and they make a statement that I really like.

Thanks to you all; I will try the rubber marketing bands or rubber bands.

Does that make it a prime?
