I think the tilt screen is a valuable feature on any camera.

If your primary interest is in shooting VIDEO, perhaps it would be.

For those who are NOT, and are mainly going to be shooting stills, it is a useless feature, except for those times when you are taking those ground-level or over-your-head shots, but how many times is THAT happening?

Here is a comparison of the d750 to the d810.

Low perspective photography really makes a statement.

You can not compare the 750 to the 810. The 750 is a better camera than the 610. However, the 610 is a great little camera too. The 750 has a better feel in the hand too compared to the 610. I own the D300, the D7000 and the D610 and just went to a launch party for the D750. For the $400 extra dollars over the D610 I would have bought the 750 had it been available last year. It has many new features that you can read about in the specs sheets and is well worth having over a 610 or great to upgrade to from the 610 if you can afford it. Of course the 810 is that much better but at a big price increase AND a huge file size to have to contend with for storage of all those images.

It actually happens A LOT unless you're a stand up in one spot photographer. Useless? LOL not really. You're funny.

I have found the photographic improvements over the D610 to me minimal. Where the D750 shines is in the video arena.
My opinion, if you also do a lot of video, the D750 is the clear choice. If you are primarily a still photographer and do little or no video, the D610 is a much better buy.
And yes, I do have both cameras.

So happy to see you weigh in on this.

I am anxious to hear about the reputed improvements in the focusing system. And are the focal points still clustered in the center as on the 600/610 and 800/810?

I am considering upgrading my 700. I am indifferent about the tilt screen. So far I have convinced myself that I would be happiest with the newest technology, and although the price difference doesn't make the 750 prohibitive for me, I don't want to feel it was a waste either.

The layout of controls seems virtually identical to my 7100. Do you find the operation of the two similar?

I'm also interested in choosing between 610 and 750.

The D750 does gain the 51 focus points over the D610's 39, and they do cover a wider area of the sensor.
Both the D610 and D750 share the control array of the D7100 so all buttons and controls are pretty much the same. The menu selections are also pretty much the same with some minor differences that are easily recognized.

I am sure it will. One dislike out of the box on the D750 is the tilt screen.

Do you dislike it because it tilts or because it doesn't swivel, too?

Why the urge to jump to FX?
Does it offer something that you really NEED or just something that you Think You Need ?
The D7100 is a pretty impressive camera. Do you really need High ISO and Shallow DOF ?
These things are nice, but they come at a high price, especially if you have a great camera in the D7100.
I shoot landscapes and just purchased a factory refirb D800 for the same price as the D750 because I NEED an D800.
The D750 IS NOT a D700 upgrade. Don't let Nikon's marketing BS make you think that it is...
And just remember, No more relatively inexpensive DX lense. FX requires all new expensive FX glass, otherwise you might as well stick with a perfectly good D7100.
For most people, the D750 does not make sense unless you have more money than you need.

I dislike it because it has a tendency to get caught on things and my 1 year old great grandson can't be satisfied just looking. He is at that grab it and see stage. I also think if you want to use a screen buy a point & shoot.
